Some help removing a stereo

Hi

I was wondering if any of you guys knows how (or a webpage that teaches you how) to remove this stereo box from a Mazda Protegé.

I want to install this:

It has instructions and everything... but I’m too stupid to figure out how to remove the damn stereo so I can begin installing the new one. The old one broke, it's a "Logic Control 4262", the one that came with the car.

Thanks =)

im just guessing here, but on the sides of the radio there are two peices that look like they might come off and if so then you can buy a tool that you pop in there and it comes right now...other wise youd have to remove that section of the dash and then youd see the screws....but im not sure witch it is for that perticular stereo

I am also looking for some pointers on take a stock radio/cassette player out. I have a '97 Protege with the tape deck at the top and a cd player near the cup holders. I have taken the trim off and there are no screws to loosen the radio. However the climate control 'unit' does come out...but i'm still fighting with that. Any tips?
Thank you very much in advance!

Get some ford radio removal keys, pop the 2 taps off the radio and the radio will just slide out.

Ryuujin or jubo20,
Have you guys taken out your radio's. If so, please post how you did it. I'm trying to fix/replace a '96 protoge's radio and need to take it out. Any further tips would definitely help.

The stock radio turns on but no sound, what was wrong with your stock radio's???

O3Protege was right but, I couldn't find the two tabs as I thought it was there permanantly. I found the tabs only after I took out all the trim.

Anyways, it looks like the radio is dead so, now I need to know what the different wires that go into the HU as I want to replace it. Does anyone know?????

Wires

Im still in that process myself. I was thinking about giving a custom audio place call and asking them if they have a wire harness or "converter"...im not exactly sure what you call them....but they make them for Hondas. For my radio there are 4 individual plugs...I want to keep pretty much everything stock, so thats the reasoning behind getting a converter type thingy. Let me know what you come up with!

jusbo20,
If you live in the US you can order it from Crutchfield.com. I tried ordering it but they don't deliver to Canada.

UPDATE: I bought a new CD player and the instructions explained how to test for all the wires. So, I did that and everything works and the new CD player sounds way better than the stock.

jusbo20, did you find the harness? You should be able to find one at one of your local car audio install places.
