i took my dog to the dog park yesterday and he got sick on the way there. he's never been good with car rides, and it's happened before, so no biggy. i get home and take out my back seat cushions to clean them. then i go inside cause nature is calling and i leave my seat cushions to dry outside resting on my car's front passenger door. i come outside about ten minutes later and my SEAT CUSHIONS ARE GONE! i thought my cute neighbors were messing with me, but they didn't do it.

does anyone know where i can get new ones (before i lay down a chunk of change at the dealer)? do the sedan's seat cushions come out? anyone want to sell me theirs? this seriously sucks. i'm fuming now. i spent all yesterday looking for them around the neighborhood and couldn't find anything. what could someone possible do with protege5 seat cushions???

my girlfriend says i look like a racer now because i'm taking things out to save weight. i don't think it's funny at all. should i report this to the insurance company after filing a police report? i'm 23, male, single, and live in a not-so-great neighborhood, so i am sure my rates will increase from the 1300/six months it already is now. any suggestions? TIA. i just don't know what to do!

that is stupid, i hate ppl that do that.. if you ever catch them.. beat the **** outta them! as for your seat cusions.. do you really need them imediatly? if not take out your back seats and store them in a safe location for now, you will get better gas millage

How do you take out the back part of the seat? I took out the part you sit on but cant figure out how to get the back rest out of there...Thanx

 

i was walking my dog after class this morning and heard what sounded like a nail gun a short distance down the road. at first i was hesitant to walk my four month old pup towards the noise since he gets weirded out by strange noises. but i said, wtf... we are headed this way and it would be pointless to turn around just because he's a scaredy cat. plus, he's a german shepherd, so i am still trying to toughen him up. so on we walk. down an alley-like driveway up the road, i see these three kids shooting an air gun at a target. turns out the "targets" were my seat cushions! so i approach them casually and they got all excited about Thor. they put the gun down to come pet my dog and i took a look at my seats. boy, they were torn up! at this point, i'm really really mad, so i asked to speak to their parents. the youngest one goes running into the house and a short while later, the mom comes out. i told her that her kids were shooting at my seat cushions that "someone" stole from me. she told me that the bigger kids' brothers were the ones who brought it back and that they were her neighbor's kids. so i got her name and phone number and the name of the neighbor, their phone number, and the names of the kids who supposedly brought the cushions back.

don't know why 8-10 year old looking kids weren't in school and were shooting an airgun... but i am glad i found them. i told the lady who was there that i will be notifying the police later today to get all the kids in trouble, at which point she blamed me for leaving the cushions out "where kids can get to them" and told me to get off her property because i was trespassing. so i went over to the neighbor's side of the property and got on the phone with the police just to spite her. before they came, SHE TOOK MY CUSHIONS INSIDE HER HOME. then she told all the kids to go inside. so now i'm standing there with thor, who's all confused at all the commotion, waiting for the cops to come. about 30 minutes later, they get there and we go knocking on the door. she opens it after the cop knocked twice and asked what she could do for him. he asked her if she had my seat cushions and that he needed to look at them. at first, she didn't want to give them back, saying he didn't have a "warrant" to enter her home. he told her that since this is a possible crime in progress, he didn't need one. so she finally gave them to the cop.

he and her exchanged information and also information about the supposed real thieves and he offers to ride me back to my house cause he needs to see my car. so we go back to my house and i show him my lack of back seat cushions. he got my information down, gave me a case number, and TOOK THE SEATS WITH HIM.

so now i still don't have seat cushions. and those kids are probably going to do something to my car. i'm scared because the parents seem to be on the kids' side. dammit! the cop said that he will see what he can do about increasing patrols in my neighborhood, but that is far from reassuring.

after this case clears up, i'm going to see if the parents are going to be paying for new ones or not. if not, it's to court i go. one of my old neighbors who just moved out was a fourth year law student, so i'll call him to see what my options are legally. anyone have any suggestions? should i get video surveillance for my car?

I think so b/c now there going to be looking for your car for sure just to get back at you for telling the cops. Do you have a security system on your car? If you do, can you change the sensitivity of it? If so, I would put it on high even though it may end up being annoying. You can even do what Cablmirc said and install a security light in the driveway. If you can, get a surveillance camera either inside the car or outside pointing to the car.

If they were shot to hell, did you really want them back? Were they still usable? Hopefully you'll get reimbursed for a new set sooner or later, hopefully sooner. I don't know what that mom must be thinking. And letting her kids playing with air guns ok whatever

please do not take any of my advice seriously. (i know you want to do this in your head too, its human nature)

 

once you removed the part you sit on, lay the back rests down and start unbolting the visible screws the hold it to the chassis of the car.....also, there are 2 screws on each side of the back rests, but one of them is under that litle round cover that you have to pop out to get to it. good luck

 

some punk kid has them in his bedroom for sitting on the floor.....
