speaker installation on 94 protege

hey guys! I'm a complete newbie when it comes to car audio, but consider myself quite the "expert" when it comes to computers and home audio. Don't know if that will help me at all, as I know very little when it comes to cars! But I want to upgrade the speakers on my 94 protege (the car manual actually says it's a 95 but clearly it is a 1st gen).

My car stereo is currently a Kenwood KDC-115S. Here's a link to some of its specs kdc115s.

So it looks like my stereo is rated at 22 watts RMS/45 peak x 4 channels, not too sure how good that is. With that being said, what kind of specs should I look for in buying new speakers? I am NOT looking to spend a lot of money, as I doubt I'll be keeping this car for many years. I'm just sick to death of having no bass and terrible sound reproduction. If anyone has any recomendations of speaker brands/sizes I should keep my eye out for, please let me know. I'd prefer buying from a brick & mortar store (I'm in Canada) rather than ebay or onlinle...

Also are there any guides out there for removing the door panel and/or installing speakers in this model car? Thanks a bunch guys!
