speaker mounting - 1st gen
im planning on getting some new, 5 1/4 speaker in my car (because i have blown all the other ones)
and the speakers that i look at have 4 screw holes for mounting but the protege only has three, because of the stock speaker design
what do i do here, are there mounting plates or something that i can buy, or do i need to make something custom, or just drill them into ther door?!
thanks

i just recently did this. i ended up drilling new holes for the rear speakers. for the fronts i centered the speaker for the top OEM screw and drilled holes for the other 3. you could also use sheetmetal screws - they just 'drill' right in.
on the fronts of course you'll also need to watch the depth so that you can roll the window down i mounted the new speakers in their housing and that gave enuff space for window clearance.
