they should all be OK. I put a 6 1/2 midbass in my doors with only a 1/2 adapter made from MDF. Most speakers at those levels should be OK and if not trim the back of the door panel and make a space ring.

Right now I have a set of 218 MB Quart Q components, the 6 1/2 mid, in custom kick panels. they play at 90Hz and up. I also have a JL audio XR 6 1/2 midbass driver in each front door that play 70hz-300hz. Also I use and audio control EQS to tune the system which I have the midbasses in the doors and the Qs on seperate channels so I can adjust their overlapping frequencies indipendantly.

That's ain't bad. I'm just suprised that you fit 6.5" mids in kicks. Your car must be auto. The 4" 130K mid in my car is just perfect, anything bigger & it would take up too much space. The XR midbass is supposed to pump out quite a bit of midbass. I have my K3's highpassed at 55hz right now at 12db/oct & they have quite a bit of bass in them. I even ran with no sub & ran my K3's full pass & they were pretty impressive. Granted, the 165K3 is a true, dedicated midbass driver with decent throw & a big voicecoil.

No my MP3 is a standard and I have a good amount of room left too, no dead pedal but they don't hinder shifting either, I'll send you some shots. I have been getting a real urge to buy the 3 way focals though the only problem is I have no where to listen to them.

You were able to fit 6.5" mids in a standard car?!?! Wow, that's amazing!! I guess I just didn't want to sacrifice my dead pedal for more "spirited" driving . Personally, I think auditioning to speakers on a sound board is next to useless. You're, of course, free to listen to my car if you're ever in town but I might be taking it out soon. Will be going back to school & don't want the car to be so heaty. I'm in Vancouver, Canada though. Are you considering any other 3-way sets?

Front Door Speakers
I have the 2002.5 PRO5 with the 6-speaker set-up. I want to change the speakers in the front door to 6.5 components. Has anyone used the Scosche ABS adapters at www.sounddomain.com to do this? They are only $5 a pair.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Have you checked out the Rainbow or CDT 3 way sets? I would rank them as right up there with the Focal high end stuff. More laid back, especially in the highs but just as much detail. At times, I find even the Utopia tweeter a little bright for my taste but I don't suffer from any listening fatigue so will probably just leave them for now. The dyn's are very mellow & if you like the Focal's, you may not like the smooth, dry sound of the Dyn's.
feeney3co, there's nothing really wrong with the plastic speaker adapters but making your own out of wood (mdf) should theoretically sound better & isn't too hard. As long as you have a jigsaw & a steady hand, you can pick up a some MDF & just cut it yourself using the stock speaker & new speaker as an outline. Whatever you use, just make sure you seal it properly with foam weatherstripping so you don't get any cancellation.
