stereo wiring nightmare!!!
OMG! Has any one had horrible whine and hiss with their aftermarket stereo? Of course you have cause obviousely the wiring from the stock harness on the P5 is crap!
I am trying to get the P5 ready for spring break nat's and all I could hear is altenator whine and a sound floor hiss. I used an IASCA zero bit track and it was like torture. At first I thought maybe my nice new Audio Control EQL was the problem. After tearing my lovly protege to a shell and rewiring the entire system with Ixos wiring..reassembling...and low and behold....NOISE!!
Well three days later (and about $60 bucks in gas driving my gas guzzling 69 camaro back and forth to work ,4 miles to the gallon sucks) I found it..... If you have this problem I feel your pain...it only seems to be extremly bad if you are using an EQ with line drivers. If you have this problem do yourself this favor.
Run a positive and ground from your distibution blocks in the back and attach these to the head unit. Use a relay on the starter wire for the ignition and also run this on the clean power from the back of the vehicle (don't use the factory...it also has a bad noise problem, if you need help with the relay post or pm me and ill help ya) Also run a relay for the remote wire and run this off the dist. block. Other words EVERYTHING runs off the power in the back of the car. Whatever you do ant the pro do not ground your system to the battery directly...you'll here sh@t that just physically possible for speakers to do!
when your done drink alot....it made me feel better.
Sorry needed to blow off steam about this, I spent alot of time on the phone with the Greg from Audio Control, good people!! thanks a mill!! If any one has any probles like this give me yell and i give ya a hand.
sorry bout the post size....
