Stock PERIMETER ALARM adjustment... HELP!!
I have the perimeter alarm option on my 02 P5.... I have taken it in to the dealer to have the sensitivity adjusted but is is still too touchy!! I need to turn the sensitivity all the way down... Car exhaust note will set it off..... Anyone know how to adjust the system??

if the alarm sends constant power to the sensor, stick your face up under the dash and bang on the steering wheel, this will illuminate the LEDs in the sensor and you'll then be able to get a light down there and adjust it.
if the alarm does NOT send the sensor constant power, while your face is up under the dash, arm the alarm and then bang the steering wheel to set off the sensor and illuminate the LEDs.
Also, there is a difference between Perimiter (Proximity) sensors and Impact (Shock) sensors. Proximity's detect physical mass in the form of movement and will most likely have 2 adjustments for sensitivity, interior and exterior. Shock's detect vibrations and impacts and generally have one 1 adjustment for sensitivity. They are nowadays usually 2-stage, meaning they have a warn-away stage and full trigger stage. (4 wires - power, ground, warn-away, trigger) I know probably way more info than you needed, but i just got to rambling.....

Alarm
Look under the driver's side of the dash. Under there is the module for the alarm. Also look for a small black box with a white **** on it, that is the adjustment ****-turn it all the way counter clock wise.

Swine shock sensor
Brad - I just got a 2002 ES this past Saturday and the alarm tripped at least twice today at work (probably from big compactor putting in a new road, but motorcycles passing by set it off on Sunday). Thanks a lot for the ttip on location and sensitivity adjustment of shock sensor. I turned it down maybe an 1/8th to a 1/4 turn, found that a very light bump to windshield or tire still tripped it, and turned it down another 1/8th to 1/4 turn. It seems better now - the acid test will be if it trips again tomorrow at work :-). Thanks again for the tip, as the factory manual (ha - five pages) for the alarm said nothing about this. Also, as someone else posted, it probably doesn't help that the factory tiewrapped that sensor to a wiring harnass instead of attaching it to a solid surface.
