One question for you before you decide a sub. What kind of music do you listen to mostly? If you're a speed metal head, you'll probably want 10's due to their fast reflex. Rap, Rap/rock, hip hop & such, 12's. If you're looking at a $500 budget and want amp, 2 subs, box, you'll be going -w- low power, but you can still get quality. Look at Fultron. Depth Charge 12 - $69.99 ea. DC 400 400watt 2 channel - $219.99. Not real high power, but they hold up well. Good luck.
