Suggestions on amp&sub

Suggestions on amp&sub
I have done numerous searches on the different set ups that people use in their cars and kinda narrowed my options down but I still need a little help. Money is a restriction for me so I'm looking to spend $200 max maybe on a sub(s).
First question
I heard people talking about the Alpine Type-R but I was wondering if anyone heard the Type-S? I found a site that sells a 12" Type-S for $90.
Next question
If not the Alpine, I was thinking Infinity. I can get the Infinity Kappa 120.3DVC or Infinity Kappa 120.3SE for $135. I would consider the perfects but if I decide to get them, I would have to spend less on an amp.
Or if anyone has any other suggestions for subs other than those mention above, I would greatly appreciate the input. Thanks.

that'd all depend on if you're going for SPL or SQ... personally i just like some clean bass, nothing to win competitions with, but good enough to get each hair on your head vibrating... i'm really happy with my type-R's so far... i too looked at the type-S's and they're fine if you just want it loud, but for sound quality they sorta suck (no offense to anyone who has em! ) i just find that there's too much reverb/noise when you crank em up... even if you're on a budget i'd say spend a tad more and go for the slightly nicer stuff... cuz if you don't, you're just gonna end up spending more later when the car audio bug bites again! case in point... 1hwn!!! (but he has a KILLER setup in his ride!!! )

site is running smoothly again
imo, type-s subs sound better in a bandpass as i too am not fond of their sq properties, so i'd let it boom in a bandpass. in the movie "fast and furiously no-plot-crapping acting", vin deisel ran the type-s, but for some reason it sounded pretty good in that application... huh? gotta love hollywood. i like the type-r subs better (sealed).
if you want good bang for the buck, there are actually a lot of subs out there that can offer that, it just depends on what you want from your system and how you want it to look/sound. if you are going with one 10" or 12" driver, i would highly suggest image dynamics which should fall into your $200 range. other than that, you could look into these lines:
jl audio w0, kicker comp vr, fusion powerplant, orion xtr (dunno about $$$). just sample what you can and buy whichever one fits you (and your ride).
and stay away from that car audio bug!
bastard!

Thanks for all the help so far! I have looked into the JLs before and they sound pretty good too! The only reason that I don't really want them is because practically everyone with subs in my school has the exact same thing. You guys might find this a stupid reason but I want to have something different. Oh and btw I'm looking more into sq.
I think I'm probably going to go with two 10" Type-Rs because I found a site that has a really good deal on them I think. Anyone have any experience with http://www.etronics.com ? They have the Type-Rs for $104.99. Whats the difference between Alpine SWR-1021D 10" Type-R Series Subwoofer (2ohm + 2ohm) and Alpine SWR-1041D 10" Type-R Series Subwoofer (4ohm + 4ohm)? I don't quite understand the ohm stuff when it comes to subs and amps. Also does anyone have any suggestions as to what amp would be good with these subs?
Thanks!

dvc (dual voice coils) give you different wiring options. numbers aren't really my forte, but it depends if you want more power from your amp or not. or if you want better sq. if you are gonna get dvc subs, make sure your amp can handle the power/ohm load.
what kind of amp are you getting for those type-r's?

Re: Suggestions on amp&sub
What amp will you be using to run the sub? What does the rest of your system consist of? What type of music do you primarily listen to?

I really don't know what kind of amp I'm gonna use for my subs right now because I haven't had much time to look around for them. I might not get two 10s because of how much space its going to take up. I need to be able to fit golf clubs in when the season starts so I'm starting to look into a single 12". In your opinion, would you get a 12" Type-R or Perfect 12.1D. From what I've read, those are both good subs.
I listen to all types of music (rap, reggae, hawaiian, rock). I have a alpine deck that puts out 60wx4 and I Infinitys in all doors. The front doors have 6.5 components.

What is your budget for your amp? What model number is your deck? Where are you located? IMO I wouldn't get either of those subs... Let me know your answers to those questions and I will try to help you further.

Alright here is what you could do.
Subwoofers
1. Image Dynamics IDQ12V.2
This sub is great for the price. It performs well for SQ purposes and is capable of playing low and loud if that is what you like. The enclosure size is also very small (0.65-1.00 cu. ft sealed). This sub can be had from www.mmxpress.com for $152
2. JL12W3V.2
I can actually get you this sub for $155US shipped right now (a friend of mine owns an audio shop). I have not listened to this new V.2 series but I did like the old W3 line better than the Image Dynamics IDQ series. They played nice and low with very little overhang.
3. Adire Audio Shiva
This is a great sub at a great price. It has tremendous output and the SQ is very good. The only downfall is that it does require it's enclosure to be stuffed with a fair amount of filling. It also does require a fair amount of power... $125 shipped from www.ampmanaudio.com
Amplifiers
Contrary to popular belief the US Acoustics amplifiers are a very good line of amps for the money. They produce a fair amount of power and they are quite reliable. You could either go with a 4 channel amp and use channels 1-2 for your front speakers and bridge channels 3+4 for your sub and continue running your rear speakers off of your deck, or you could just get a 2 channel or mono amp for your sub and leave everything else the way it is.
Which Infinity's do you have up front?
For the four channel rout I would go with something like the US Acoustics 4085 which is $175 at www.thezeb.com. If you are going this route I would suggest against going with the Shiva sub as you probably will not be playing it to it's full potential. If you go the 2 channel amp you could try something like the US Acoustics 2150 which is $165 at the same place. You could also look for a used amp from Ebay...
I know I have given a lot of options, but you have to understand that audio is a VERY subjective area. You really should head out and audition as many subwoofers as you can since, in the end, you are the one who will have to listen to it not me or anyone else. We can try to steer you in the right direction but I really do recommend you going out and listening to as many as you can...

I have the reference 6.5 components up in the front. I read through www.mmxpress.com and looked up the Image Dynamics subs and it looks good. The only problem is that the site says that all the ID series are unavailable. I was looking at a 4 channel amp so I could power my front speakers and a sub. I'll probably look into the US Acoustics amp.
onehawaiian-I knew it! You are from Hawaii! hehe. What places would you recommend for the subs? Buying locally would be better since there would be no shipping costs! Are there any stores that carry the image dynamics subs so I could sample it? Also, do you have any recommendations for the install of a sub and amp? I heard installtech is pretty good with the installs.
