Tabs on P5 Doors?
This may be a repeat question, but whats the function of the white and black taps on the bottom of the front doors on the P5s, and why ar'nt there any on the back doors?

I never noticed them on mine. The rear doors should have them too if they are for the dome light. The black boot on the door jamb is the switch for the doors, but I don't know what the white tabs you are referring to.

These tabs.
Here are pics of the tabs I'm refering to. My buddy figures there for drainage but why doesnt the back doors have the white tabs, there are just bare holes. Maybe some of you dealership guys could help educate a P5'r.
The back doors.
The back doors.

since I am interested in the answer I extracted the links from the original post:

and

PS. it would seem that imagestation adds a default ".orig.jpg" extension to the filenames for images (i.e. "filename.jpg.orig.jpg")... it seems that if you delete that part (to "filename.jpg") it seems to post in-line fine... I think.

Oops, those have nothing to do with dome light
No idea what or why those white tabs are... I got just holes and that's the way it should be. Those holes let the water out of the door (it may be really wet inside the door) and if those holes are plugged the water stays inside and soon there'll be rust
But if anyone knows the purpose of those tabs....

those are on fact the drain holes from the doors....however....what the little flapper valves are really for is beyond me....I noticed them the first time I cleaned my car and have wondered, why not all the doors?, really doesn't make much sence.....and I am sure you would be hard pressed to find anyone at a dealer that knows.....probably some silly reason that only some design engineer knows about.

I have those tabs on my front doors also. The back are just holes. I think someone said the reason why the front has plugs is because water from the front tires may go into those holes??? At least thats what ive read on another thread about this.
Can someone please confirm what the purpose of these are for? Thanks.
