heh.. all this talk about the hazard light button - i don't think mine EVER lit up... in fact, i'm sure of it. In double fact, I think if it did light up, I'd disconnect the light cuz i wouldn't want some stoopid orange triangle glowing at me all the time...
First time i tried pulling off the center panel, i got all the clips loose and it wouldn't budge.. I was like WTF and for an hour i was trying to figure it out, till i looked at my shop manual (like an idiot - looking at it AFTER the fact) and realized I had to unclip the vent wires off the panels too.. DOH

Not that I'm doubting that you've had your needles out, LEDz, but I think this technique has been tried without much success.
Seriously, people have had pro shops break the needles using the correct tools (well, they claim to be pro shops anyway) - whatever the "correct tools" are (I've never heard of the "needle removal tool" vkyolv mentioned)..
It just seems really risky. I have tried the prying thing, and quite frankly, I chickened out on it. It really felt like they were gonna break.

So how does it work, though? Do the needles pull off of the posts, or do the posts come out with them?
Any more advice you can give would be great, 'cuz I'd love to get those things off. I don't even know if I'll do anything (like try to go blue gauges or whatever) once I get them off - but it's like a challenge now. I take it personally when the car "wins", ya' know?
Any other info will help.

Thanks for the info, man. Maybe one day I will grow some ***** and give it another go. But at least I'll be armed with some extra info (warnings, really - hehe).
And ours are amber - but same deal.

No luck on getting just needle s- the cluster is an all-or-nothing part.
Hmm...but it might be a good idea for me to look for a wrecked P5 and pick up the cluster so I can experiment on that.
We'll see...

To anyone taking off the needles
LOCATE A SALVAGED CLUSTER BEFORE YOU DO IT!!!!!!!
Blue Ledz-you are the only soul I've heard of that can pull the needles off and on. 3 times! you are the man. I broke them once and an install shop broke the second cluster. I was luckily able to find both replacements from the local salvage yard that had a nationwide search. APC and all the other companies selling these indiglo need to go **** themselves. They sell this **** with no technical support. "We got ours' on" is the answer you get. I'm putting on indiglo this weekend by slightly cutting the faces to fit them OVER the needles. Will send pics on this thread when finished.
WARNING-PULLING OFF GAUGE NEEDLES CAN COST $400

if I was able to pull them off blue ledz, I would have indiglo in those mo fos sitting pretty. It was $365 to be exact. $65 for each used replacement. I guess I'm gonna settle for indiglo with tiny cuts in them. I've exhausted everything and ran out of ideas. If something comes along after the indiglos, I'll go with the flow.
