Cool Thinking of swapping out the all-mighty 10W0's

I'm thinking I might be able to get some better performance out of some different (maybe bigger) subs...I mean there's nothing wrong with W0's but there are better subs out there...I'm keeping my JBL BP300.1 to run any sub(s) I get, and always a sealed enclosure.

Right now my top choices are:
- Pair of JL 10W3-D6 in the same enclosure I have
- Single Image Dynamics IDQ-12
- Single Kicker S12L5
- Pair of Cerwin-Vega HED-12SVC

Also I am considering the Cadence UD152, Cerwin-Vega IT 12.0, Eclipse 87121D, Kicker C15VR, MMATS Pro15, and Rockford Fosgate HE2/HX2 12" (all single, no pairs).

Any thoughts/opinions on this?

Thanks...

what do you want out of your subs? sq? spl? that would help determine what type of subs you should buy.

Both
I would like to hit around 135-140db and still retain good SQ...that's where the sealed box comes in play

ah, then i would recommend these subs:
- 12"Image Dynamics IDQ-12
- 12"Fusion Powerplant
- 10"Jl10w7 ($500???)

the 12w3 can get boomy, but i wasn't too happy with it's sq properties. imo, the kicker compvr's were better. the sounddomain guys are in love with kicker, and tho their spl is pretty nice, i really wasn't impressed with kicker's sq. but polecat over at sd is a big dawg when it comes to kicker, so maybe when i heard it the enclosures weren't for sq...

there are also very effecient sq subs that get decently loud (alumapro alchemy, a/d/s etc.) which you might wanna look into as well.

nah, you can get it under $500 (the 10w7) online. but still, $450+ for a freakin' 10in. sub? hmmm, you could get a sh!tload of compvr's for that price, but the 10w7 has really good sq...

actually, for that price, i'd look at beyond audio's line of subs. their 10in. inhuman is nasty!

I'm kind of on a budget, or I would go out and get a W7...

I might do a big ported box for a single Vega-Vega 12D4 to go up against my friend with a Earthquake *****, but SQ might be compromised that way...

then grab thos 10w3's and stomp him into the ground! like i said, the w3's can get boomy. i wasn't impressed with the sq (compared to my fusion powerplant) but it is pretty good. two 10's ought to thump hard too. but for that price ($300 both) you could try:

(2) 10in fusion powerplants
(2) 10in kicker comp vr's

both lines can be bought for about $250 shipped. hope you can get a good setup!

i've had jl's and my friends and cousin ran jl audio as well. they are indeed good subs, and i was actually gonna run an entire jl audio system (i love the xr series mids), but decided i wanted someting different. i did as much homework as i could on fusion, and decided to try it out. so i went with a fusion system. i've posted earlier about not having the numbers to back it up, but i believe that my powerplant outplays the w3 in terms of sq. i can hear more bass notes now than i did with the jl. and my sub can pound even tho it's in a sealed box. but in all actuallity, the real deal sealer was the price. my jl box was $300 from a local shop. my 12" powerplant was $115 from a net dealer and my box was another $100 (little over $200 total). if you're intrested, check out CD Zone and ask for mike. i'm assuming you live on the mainland (continent) so shipping would be even cheaper than airmail to hawaii.
