Touch-up Paint

Touch-up Paint
can anyone point me to where I can find touch-up paint. auto stores don't seem to carry the "harbor blue metallic" color of my 1991 Pro. Will the dealership be a smart idea and how much should I expect to pay? There's a few spots on the car that need to be touched up and it's long overdue. any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks... I'll probably end up calling the dealership as you said.
as for a paint shop, I am afraid that when they mix the paint it will not match perfectly. this is because the car is 12 years old and the original paint on the car has faded at least a little over the years. I would probably have the same problem even if I get oem paint from the dealership.....oh well.....

Most touch up paint comes with a small brush attached to the end of the cap. Similar to nail polish.
If you have a "Napa Autopart Store" near by, they can usually mix up some pretty good batches of paint. I think I was actually able to get them to put the paint in aerosol cans so that I did not have to paint it on...just spray the paint on....and then spray on some clearcoat on top of that.

there are tons of little tricks to touch ups,I could prolly write a book ! there are some things that are better left to a body shop sometimes.
I will try to answer as many questions as I can!
I have been in the body shop biz for 14yrs.and currently manage one as well as do custom work.
Foxy ,spray can paint has a ton of stuff in it to make it flash off(surface dry) quickly the substrate will actually be far from a cured state for quite some time .
thus the long time before you can atempt to clear it.
Bl protege how deep are the scratches? can you catch you finger nail in them if you passed them over the scratch?
Identity I can mix you some touch up ,just pm me I'll tell you where to find your paint code.I'm in the chicago area so I can even hook up with you and apply it .

Foxy, from the looks of it touch up is not the thing for you. it needs to be painted .Unless you just want to hide them a lil?
but they look to deep to buff out or touch up with good results.
bl protege, lemme know. as far as the ding , paint doesnt fill body dammage , it just cosmeticly(sp?) covers small things to make them less obvious ,not repiar them to like new.
hopefully this helps

Bl- From what I can see in the pics a touch up with the tooth pick or artists brush might be what you need.
Remember dab the paint in the scratch a little at a time dont try to fill it up with 1 thick coat. let it dry well, then wet sand with 1500-2000 grit wet sand paper. Then buff it up with a good polishing compound such a 3m perfect it 3 wax it up and it will be much less noticeable ,not perfect but cheaper than a repaint!
If you have more questions just pm me for more detail.

BL_Protege, I used the product in the URL below successfully for hood chips and a medium scratch. It works well for deep stuff but doesn't works very well for shallow blemishes. It's basically a touch-up paint thinner that doesn't harm your factory clearcoat. If you had an aftermarket paint job done, don't use this as it may strip your paint. My hood chips are barely noticeable now.

Watch the video to see how it works.
PS: BTW BL_Protege, that photo looks like part of your chrome trim on the grill, not the body paint. If that's the case, you're probably better of either ignoring the blemish or replacing the chrome trim altogether. If you really wanna try something cheap but might be successful, is to remove the chrome trim and spray it with a clear coat, filling up the scratch. I'd try this.
