What audio setup should I go with?

dude, rockford. altho the sony can hold it's own, i don't think you'd stay happy with the sony amp. rockford makes excellent amps and there's a good chance that you'll keep those later down the road (should you want to upgrade stuff!)
side cash, bonuses and whatnot is another means for car audio. i'm always finding "extra" money but what's funny is, i really don't need anything else, but i always seem to find something that'll compliment my system perfectly!
infinity makes good speakers. the rockford amps will give u nice clean power. as for subs, that all depends on if you want sq or spl.

I'm not too sure about those Kappas vs. Ref's you are looking for in the back, but the Reference 605CS will take 90 watts RMS.
I'll be feeding mine 75 RMS for now, via a Rockford 300s (2 channel) - but again, we all know that RockFos amps are a little underrated, so I should do nicely with this setup.
I don't care too much about rear fill, as the rear speakers are SO poorly placed IMO that no matter what I stick in there, I'm not going to get what I'm looking for out of them. So I'm just going to stick with deck power and my cheap Kenwood 6.5"s in the back.
sunbyrne, I'm going to be making my own MDF adapter plates for the front, so the 6.5"s can fit in the stock 5x7 hole. Nothing to fancy, but I will be making them angled toward the passenger compartment rather than just flat plates, for hopefully better imaging and SQ. Doing relatively simple installs is really not that time consuming. I totally understand wanting a pro to do it, but I find it kinda fun, and like saving the money. Also, I get to be sure about how everything is done. You never know what some shops will do - especially where you can't see it.
My speakers and sub are scheduled for delivery tomorrow - I hope to get some time to install this weekend. Ran all of my wiring this past Saturday, so there's not much left to do except make those plates, drill a hole in the door panel for the tweeters, and hook it all up. I just can't wait to crank!

The 6.5" Infinity Refs (the 652i, not the components) are rated to 60W RMS, and I'm not sure I'd want to run them above their listed capacity. Though you're right about the rears not being quite as important. Much to think about... Thanks for all the input, you two.

once again the old argument of rear fill. i found that if you don't have many people in your car, then rear fill is not necessary. however, if you have a sub, and you carry ppl in your back seat, you may want those rear spkrs. imaging in a car is difficult only because you have to decide who gets the best sound. the front is pretty important as the driver will make the most use of it, so you try to set everything perfect from that perspective. but then what about your rear passengers? aaaaargh! time to start all over again...
i have a dvd/screen and plan to put two more in the headrests so i want/need the rear spkrs. i also plan to swap out the rear coaxials and throw in some 6.5 comps.
damn bug! do i need dvd? YES. do i need more spkrs? YES. do i need to spend my life savings on car audio? YES.

I agree w/ hiho in that it doesnt really make much sense to run more power to the rear speakers. If you are only planning on amping one set, do the fronts. But it seems like you're amping all of them? If you got the rockford 62.5x4, you could probably get away w/ the refs all around. I'm running mine at about half the highest rms off my deck, and it doesnt do them justice...
How were planning on putting more watts to the back than the front? Now im curious... i'll read some more of the old posts...
