Well me, being REDrims. I like red and I'm planning on painting my car red. Milano Red to be exact. So leaving it red isn't a bad idea.

If I change the color, I'll be getting the insides of the doors done too.... And the engine will come out for the bay which is to be painted Rally Black (not quite mat, not quite gloss) and the trunk would go Rally Black too...... Which is part of the reason I'm thinking of just splashing an extra coat and a clear of the same color, saving money, so I can flush in the side moldings and sideskirts while I'm at it..... And they're gonna re-paint the inside of my sunroof this time cause there are 3 diferent reds showing in there right now..... I think it'll stay red.... But I'm still not sure. It's getting down-to-the wire, cause we're talking within the next 60-70 days here, so I need to make up my mind. The bodyshop guy is trying to sway me towards red cause he likes the way the car looks now..... We'll have to see......

and it would look like utter *** to have a black paint job with red chips.
don't they sand it down to the bare metal and then paint it ?
painting over the existing color would be pretty stupid IMO.

They wet sand it down to get the clear off than prime it then paint it a few coats of what color u want, I wouldn't be scared of people ripping up ur carpet to see ur red paint, i would be pissed they ripped it up just to see , I just want door jams hood trunk and engine bay painted with it ...Jon

This place sands it down, then puts a coat of flexible primer, then 4 coats of base coat and 3 coats of clear, so the chips would be the same color, unless they were deeper, in which case they would be grey (like primer)...

But if I keep it red, I can get more bodywork done, and everything but three out of four 1/4 panels gets new paint, the other three get wet sanded and blended. This way, My car will look even better than it already does and it'll cost about 1500 to 2000$ less than if I was getting a new color. For the same price, I get no bodywork and a new color. I think I'm gonna keep it red, or I might just wait 'till July or something (once I have enough money...)

We'll see.

That's more than $2000..................and at the end it'll probably end up being around $3000 if not more for a proper turbo setup.
