Last night i had 5 people get in my car and of course they all had red clay/sand all over there shoes, I cleaned up all the dirt but my floormats still have a redish tint to them. Any ideas on cleaning would be greatly appreciated, i just dont want to go spend money on a crappy stain remover thats not going to do the job right....Thanx

 

I put a plastic floormat on top of the one from the dealer
It helps especially during the winter in Toronto when everyone has dirty shoes !!

 

Sucks about your floor mats, its happened to me too. I can only tell yopu about the stuff I use. So far it has always worked and I am glad. I've had soda spills and mud and unfortunately, some ****. The stuff I use is called "Tuff Stuff" I beleive. No complaints here. Good luck.

 

I probably wouldn´t have let them in the car if their shoes were that dirty.

 

Get some liquid laundry detergent and a stiff-bristled brush (NOT wire though!) Fill your bathtub with 3-4" of warm water. Mix 2-3 ounces of laundry detergent with the water. Dunk each floormat in the bathtub one at a time, hold it under water and scrub the heck out of it with the brush. Pull the mats out of the water vertically so the dirt runs off. Continue holding the mat vertical over the tub and thoroughly rinse with running water (the shower works great for this, but a bucket will work too). Drain the tub and repeat with clean water until the mats are clean. Then soak up the extra water with old towels and leave the floormats outside to dry.

I always use the Hoover Deap Clean vacuum and it works great. But then I guess it depends if you've got something like that.

If not, then knowing how hard red clay is to get off of stuff - I'd suggest do what carguycw said to do.

 

hey man i use oxi clean which is a powder soap that cleans tar or off my floor mats from were i work it is available here in CT and my local drug store it come in a container about the size of a soft ball just use a scoop in a small little tube of water and srub, if you got a wet vac thats perfect put you can towel dry it!!! GL man i hate stains on my seat

Well i didnt have a choice really, my g/f is in journalism so her and some friends were having to make a video which involved the P5, and in part they had to get out on this dirt road to film so when they got back in it was all over the place. I didnt even notice because it was dark out , but after they left i looked behind my seat and dirt was every where ....i dunno i guess thats the P5 has to pay for being so beautiful

 

Well... if it meant making a video of the car, perhaps I would have put up with it.

 

Watch your hands if you use carpet cleaner, detergent etc, when you dip them in a bathtub. I did it once and my skin got all irritated. It took a month for them to recover from the rashes, skin cracking etcetc. Maybe it's just me, but be careful.

I use the turtle wax carpet cleaner stuff, its a aerosol with a bursh at the end, very convinient. you can get it walmart.

 

thats what i do too. 27k miles later they still look like the day they were made.

 

I've gone as far as putting a garbage bag under the plastic mat during winter :-)
especially on the dead pedal since my plastic mat isn't big enough covering it.

 

i get mine from a hardware store.
i buy so many feet and then i just cut our as much as i need. this way there are little flaps that cover on the sides too (tranny tunnel and where the kick panel and door opening are)

 

I use the high-pressure spray gun at the quick car wash places - works like a charm. (but then make sure you have a place to dry them afterwards.

 

I use Oxi Clean too and it works on my carpets. Make sure you test it out in a small spot first so there won't be any decoloring. It's fine on my blue 1st gen carpet and seats. Now that I have vinyl seat covers I don't have to worry bout stains that much.
