The thoughts are much appreciated, Dave.

Damn - I wish there was a way to invite everyone to the wedding!

Even if the party sucked, the parking lot would look WAAAAYYYY cool!!

I'll miss y'all while I'm away - but not that much

If it wasn't for Allison's soccer games this weekend (you will understand in a few years! ) I would just hook it up in the RX-7 and be there on Sunday! I would even bring some vintage Munns and Cohibas for your big day!
As is, make sure you do something entirely foolish like go to a strip club or two or seven this weekend and let them know you are getting married...

Shelia used to tell me that she never minded my going to strip joints as long as I got all fired up and come home to her and no where else. Please to say that worked great for the both of us!!

Obviously, you don't hit the "Off Topic" forum too much, Dave.....

Check this thread - start at the top, read my post (first one). Then keep reading (or skipping, skimming, whatever) until you get to my other LONG post near the end.....

Sometimes, foolishness is trouble......

But a good time was had by all, I assure you.

Have fun with the reading....

I have a US Acoustics 4080 amp in my VW cabriolet. I have been very happy with it. I have 2 channels bridged to drive my old kicker solo, and I have had NO issues with clipping for this sub (rated 300W RMS, and the solos need the power - they tend to clip lower power amps very easily). The crossover section is really flexible on this amp also (high/low pass is variable on both pairs of chanels, and the line outs can be full range, high pass or low pass as well). I don't know if the 2080 has the same style of crossovers though.

Plus the price seems right (I paid $400 can for my 4080 when it was a new model and I though that was a good price at the time).

Dale.

So I ended up going with the JBL 80.2, 10 inch Pioneer IMPP sub, Q-logic sealed enclosure all for under $200 shipped. After some extensive searching where to run my power wire I deciced to use the spot where all the wires come through the firewall on the lower passenger side. The Q-logic box comes with a trim ring. It works pretty well I guess if used properly. After screwing in the sub I pulled it out as the screws tend to pull up material from the enclosure when tightened the first time. I trimmed that down and quickly sanded it and now the enclosure is very air tight.

I was a little concerned that the 80.2 might not have enough power to fill my needs compared to what everyone was saying, but to be honest it is almost more than I need and I do not even have it turned up nearly as loud as it will go. It sounds awesome. For the $200 I am very impressed with this little set up for filling in the missing bass. Jhatfi is a happy guy.

I ended up mounting the sub by getting some industrial velcro and stapeling it to the bottom of the enclosure. It seems to hold it in place very well although I am going to attach 2 L brackets to make sure it held in place.
