what would be the best sub for this amp?
I'm getting a new amp in the next few months and I want to start doing my research now. I'm getting a PG Tantrum 600.4 and I already have a 300.2, I would use the 300.2 for the sub and the new 600.4 for the speakers.
The amp puts out about 330w RMS @4ohm, I'm considering the JL 10" w6 v2, but since JL recomends 400w I'm not shure if itll sound good with only 330w. What do you guys think? if it's not the right sub, what would you recomend?(preferably JL)
My main goal is SQ.

Should I get 12" or 10"? they take the same amount of watts RMS, what would the difference be? I'm mostly into rock, alternative, punk and trance music, so I want the bass to be tight.
My current sub is a 12" w0 that's only getting like 100-150w tops and it sounds pretty good considering the amount of power it's getting.

I liked the w6 v2 because it uses technology similar to the w7's and also because they look great IMO, if I would get the same(or better) performance from the W6v2 than from the w3, I wouldn't mind paying a litle bit more for it.

The biggest difference will be in the install, amp seyup and box construction. The W6 has more potential but it has to be installed right to utalize it. The power is close enough that it doesn't matter to much. It realy depends on how realistic Phoenix power ratings are. if its under rated at 300 watts rms then your cool, if its over rated then you may want to go with the W3. Form my experience with PG they are typicaly conservatively rated so you should be good to go with the W6.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant by "the power being close enough" I thought you were talking about the amps lol.
So, you think I should got with the w6v2? what difference does the size make? since both the 10" and the 12" handle the same amount of power.

I'm not new to car audio but I've never been able to understand the whole ohm thing, my amp puts out 342w at 4ohm, how do I change that, or why would I? I thought I was just suposed to plug the wires to the amp and voila, the sub works. Say, the sub works with 200w, I use an amp that puts out 200w (or close to that)...blue, please enlighten me with your car audio knowledge and help me with my subwoofer ignorance.

this feels like math class all over again. Ok, let me get something straight first, a sub with one voice coil has only one set of + - inputs, whereas a sub with two voice coils has two sets, right? (duh)
Ok, so in my case with my amp being 4ohm stable I should either get a sub with a single voice coil or get one with dual(2ohm) voice coils and wire it in series? I don't want to abuse my amp.
I understand the formula you posted...I need a calculator, It's been like 2 years since I last did anything that resembles a mathematic formula (I'm a law student), at first I didn't know what it was because of the dots(I was like:"wtf?") but then I read the note.
Thanx again bud.
