In my 01' sedan, I had one under the passenger seat and one in the trunk mounted behind the rear driver side seat. In my 03' PR5 I have my rockford amp mounted behind the rear driver side seat like in my sedan. Stays out of the way in both places but is better in the trunk so people sitting in the back of the car can get their feet under the seats.

In the wagon, the popular places seem to be either under the seats, or in the rear. I prefer the rear compared to under the seats, it is a matter of water, mosture and forgien matter being able to get at an amp. Besides, Mazdas have those nice little vents under the front seats to provide heat and air to the back.
By the way, I will be most interested to read what you thing of the Kapton hardware. I have always had a softspot for smaller manufacturers of nice equipment.
I have often just cut a large board of MDF cut to fit the floor aread, carpeted it, and placed it in the trunk and installed amps on it. They end up secure, and the board can be lifted out to get at the rear spare as needed.
Good luck, and please let us all know what you decide on!

Instead of mounting amps directly to the seatbacks, I opted to use an MDF board, and cut slots in it so I could strap the board to the child-seat hooks on the seatbacks.
If I can find my pics, I'll post 'em. But the end result is a solid, yet completely removeable/reconfigureable installation.

Well thankyaverymuch Dave.
Found some pix:
This is the unfinished MDF, cut to fit and strapped to the child seat hooks:
And the completed board covered with vinyl, amps attached and wiring complete - the amps are centered between the sub box on the right and the left edge of the board (one strap is actually under the trim of the left amp):
I just didn't want to put holes in my seatbacks, and wanted something that could easily be removed if I need to flop the seats and haul something.

I was impressed that not only with how clean the install looks, but it has fantastic utility to it. It can be lowered with the seats, takes up little precious room, and can in a pinch be totally removed. It has little permanent effect on the car, so it can be easily moved as needed or removed when sold!
Just a sharp install there!!!

this is exactly what i want...but will the spare tire still fit?http://images.cardomain.com/installs...41_74_full.jpg

Hey that's my car! Thanks for the compliments on it. I really didn't think too many people would like it because it is simple (no fiberglass, plexi, neon). The spare tire is gone now. Nothing is down there except some extra hidden wire and grounding points. I have Mazda Roadside Assistance and a cell phone if I get in trouble.

I know this isn't something everyone thinks about, and I also know that with the P5 everything in the rear is hidden by the cargo tray...
but keep in mind....fast in, fast out also applies to theives. I try to use security screws and bolts to keep my equipment from going anywhere I don't want it.
I just got my P5 last saturday and I am already in the planning stage for the stereo. I'll post pictures as soon as I get underway.
