Why is Car Audio SO FRIKIN ADDICTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I thought I finished my system when I put in my Kenwood's in the front, and then as I was installing subs and an amp in my friends accord I got that good ole urge to upgrade. So I went out and bought a pair of Pioneer 6x9 4-way speakers to replace the Sony x-plodes I had in the back. Can I say that these speakers are amazing. The high's in them are so crisp and clear, with absolutely no distortion. So I say this now, I AM DONE WITH CAR AUDIO.............
Until next week, when I upgrade my amp because i still have a piece of **** sony amp. BUT THEN I AM DONE!

Yeah....that's what I though too. But I never was able to stop myself where you have. I'm now into my stereo about $3500. MB Quart components in all the doors, JL Audio subs in the back, Phoenix Gold powered everything, and Eclipse in dash 6 disc changer for the HU. I have a total of 11 speakers in my car roght now. I'll probably bump it up to 13 in a month or so when I decide to add a 4" up front with my 6.5"'s and tweets. But yeah car stereo is very addicting. At least for me, because I really love music, and I can't stand to listen to it on a shitbox of a stereo.

That's what sucks about working in car audio. You see this stuff everyday. New stuff coming in on shipments or in customers cars. You are constantly changing your mind on what you want. It it hell my friend, hell!! But I still love it.

My theory is that everyone has to have a hobby of some sort. Mine just happens to be mobile electronics. And the project is never finished. I could write a huge story of my history with car audio, but that would take too long to type. So just recently, I thought I had finished mine when I had my 10W0's running off the PG amp and coaxials up front, but no, I had to have more power. So enters JBL 300.1. Then I figure that I want to go for SQ. 10W0's sound "muddy" to me. So enters C-V IT 12.0's and Cadence component set in doors. I don't like the imaging, homemade kickpanels made. Am I done? Heck no. Now I want to upgrade the JBL amp to a PG mono amp, redo my trunk (with some plexi and maybe a bit of 'glass work, and redo the kicks to better "flush" fit.
Good thing is that I only have around $1500 (canadian mind you) into this.
At least I'm not going into SPL, my friend's SPL system seems to change every week. Just as a note I do have an SPL car...143.3db from a single 12 and 300 watts

mixmaster_matt, just be glad you only have 1 vehicle to worry about. I have my 2002 Mazda Protege' 5 with the system in my sig. I have my wifes '95 Nissan 240sx with a system, and until a recent deer vs. car accident I had a '88 Dodge Omni work car with a system (a mild system).
wifes 240sx:
HU: Pioneer DEHP8400MP
Fronts: Polk DX3065 6.5 Components
Rears: Alpine SPR174A Type R 6.5 Coax
4 Channel Amp: JBL P80.4
Sub amp: JBL BP600.1
Subs: 2 JBL GT1241 12" Subs
XM: Pioneer Gexp900xm
Security: DEI Viper550ESP
Wiring: Monster Cable wiring and digital cap
Dodge Omni:
HU: Pioneer DEHP4400
Fronts: Infinity 652i 6.5 Coax
Rears: Some Audiovox 6x9's left from previous owner
Sub Amp: JBL BP300.1
Subs: 2 JBL GT1241 12" subs
Alarm: DEI ViperC30 (old school)
XM: Pioneer Gexp900xm
The subs and the XM from the Omni went into my wife's 240sx but now I am trying to sell the Pioneer DEHP4400 and the JBL BP300.1. That's the one thing that really sux about working around this stuff. When you want new stuff or something like an accident happens then you need to try to find someone to buy your stuff.

well the reason why some ppl are adicted is that, it is how they express themselves, when you build a car audio system you build it to how you like it, and the sound of it, this actaully reflects who you are, This is how people identify you.

I think I can finally say that my car audio is finished. I just got the Boston Pro 5.5 components, Boston RM6 coaxles and the concept 4x100 watt RMS amp installed. This amp is bloody HUGE! It sounds better than I ever imagined possible and I cannot think of anything more I want. All it took was $6000
I'll post pics of the new amp rack in a bit.

I told myself when I bought a new car that I did need to throw a whole bunch of time, effort and MONEY at a new system...
Well guess what I guess I was wrong...DAMN!! And I'm just getting warmed up on the new one...
