Question Will the 99' gauge cluster work on P5??

Hi, I am new to the post but I have some questions that my local Mazda dealer can not seem to answer for me. I tried to change the color of my gauges to blue and broke the temp. needle like a dumbass. (before I discovered the post) I have since ordered a set of indiglo gauge faces, but I am going to buy a new gauge cluster before I put them on. My questions are these:
1. When I buy a new gauge cluster and install it, will my car
have zero miles on it or is the mileage stored in the vehicle
computer?
2. Being that I am trying to change the color to a blue/green
theme, I want to know if I can buy a cluster from a 99'
protege since the illumination color is green. I already have
the white faces to install (buy cutting them this time) so I am
not concerned with the fact that they come black. I just don't
want to buy them and then find out that they don't plug
in and be stuck with them. I thought they might even be a
little cheaper since they do not come with the "desirable"
white faces.
3. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy the new gauges?
I have called the dealer on several occasions and gotten prices
between $380.00 and $650.00. Suprisingly there is only one
Mazda dealer in Las Vegas that sells parts and they are not
the brightest stars in the universe if you know what I mean.
I've even talked to the same guy and gotten different prices
for the same thing on the same day.
It seems that I'm not the only person that this has happened to so I am hoping that someone out there can help me.
Thanks in advance!!

the mileage should be kept in the computer.

Don't buy them from the dealer. They're mad crazy expensive. Instead, go down to your local junkyard or pick-your-part and pick one up for about $50. The gauge cluster should be undamaged no matter how badly the car is mangled, so keep an eye open. Just pop it out, clean it off real good, and you're set!
