Window Tinting!

Who here has a P5 in silver, with 5% tint all around? Can u post a pic of your car with the tint? Can't decide to use 5% or 20%. Also i want to know why some tinting shop charge $200 for 5% tints, and some $89. What's the differents?

go for 20%, it looks classier, and not as ghetto as 5% which is basically limo tint.....

Check out my sig. It's not great quality pics but it's 15% around the back and 35% in the fronts.

5%

Some tints are a better quality than others. The more expensive tint is more durable than the stuff at Autozone or your local parts store. The tint that I have is heat treated! They shrink wrap the tint on to the windows. The guy told me there is "Metal mixed into the tint during manufacturing, To make it very durable" Maybe he was misinforming me, but it sounds good. I have 5% from the shoulders back. That is the Law in Pa

Tinting certainly looks nice.....just remember one thing...when JOHN LAW walks up to your window....and most likely sooner or later he will....if he can't see you....he just may assume you are pointing a gun at him....if you go with Limo Tint all around...and you ever get pulled over....roll your window down before the officer gets to your car. I had the fronts on my two done to the legal limit here in texas, which is 20% and the rest in 5%. looks great.

Hey! Someone else from CT! Where you from? I'm in Manchester. Anyway, I'd be careful about the tint. Depends on where you hang too. I'll check about the legal stuff at work (I work as a records clerk at the Avon P.D.). I need to know cause I'm doing my windows next month probably. Nice to see ya!

Heh. I'm here in Newfoundland and we can put any amount in front. No cops care here. There's so many people with limo tints on the fronts going around here it's not funny.

I didn't want limo. I just don't like it too much. Makes the car look to much like a panel car instead of windows.

does the % of tint refer to how much sunlight it lets in or blocks out? like does 15% mean it only blocks 15% of sunlight?

And good point Dr. Evil, limo tint does make the car's windows look too much like panels which is fugly if you ask me, but everybody's got their taste.....

20% is the perfect amount if you ask me, as at night it looks the same as limo tint from outside, but you can actually see stuff when you're backing up

Tint laws vary a lot from state to state. Check out:

http://www.pcisys.net/~bpc/auto_law/tint/

According to this, CT law sets 35% as the darkest legal tint. Not to rain on people's parades, but states can fail you on inspection if your tint is too dark:
*ry_clark, according to that, your tint is WAY illegal in PA. What's your source on the PA law?
* Same for you, Sir Nuke--the legal limit in TX is 35% on sides and 20% in back, and I checked the state of Texas web site to be sure that's still the current law--where'd you get your information?

Oh, and easilyamuzed, yes, you're right, none of us have a tint job like yours. I suspect not very many of us would want to, either, but I could be wrong about that.
