XM Radio antenna

I tried searching, but the board won't allow a two-letter search term, so "XM" searches are out of the question.

I just bought the Delphi SkyFi XM Radio system with the car kit and I'm extremely happy with XM--very cool, excellent sound quality (indistinguishable from CDs, to my ears), easy to use. The one drawback is the antenna.

Someone else here (or the other board--can't remember) also has XM and put their antenna directly on their dash. I tried that, but I lose reception anytime I'm northbound and go under a bridge overpass! (the satellites require a southern exposure, just like DirecTV).

The instructions recommend that you install the antenna by passing the lead through the molding of your rear window. This is certainly not a good idea on a hatchback, right, considering it opens?

Has anyone run an XM antenna onto the roof of the P5? Or, anyone had any other occasion to run something (cell phone antenna, maybe) outside and can give me some tips on:

1) How to run it the length of the car (from the head unit to outside)--is it better to fish up the A-pillar and run through the headliner, or better to drop and run under the door sills into the hatch and out by the taillights or something?

2) How to get outside of the car--up the channel around the hatch opening, maybe? Or, pass it out one of the rear side windows (non-moving windows)?

I want this to work well and also be as invisible as possible, if that's any kind of assistance.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
