A few turbo-related ?s
Alright guys, I'm going to take you through my night. We finally got the car ready to take on the road. We have the vacuum line from the wastegate teed into the top port of the BOV, from there to the boost controller, to the intake manifold. We start to go down the road and it is starting to "stumble" a little (same problem we had before) when it was boosting up, then we go through the gears slowly, all the while the air/fuel ratio is rich. then we turn around and head back, still has the stumble when beginning to spool, and it starts reading lean. During the run I got on it about half throttle and got it spooling a bit and it got up to about 11 psi of boost! This is with the boost controller all the way down... so that could possibly be bad... I guess that would be my first question. Also during the run I never heard the BOV, just the wastegate.
Then we pull it back into the garage. We tried gapping the plugs from .040 to .028, because it could have been blowing the spark out... explaining the stumble. Then we adjusted the BOV. We get it back on the road and it is still stumbling... maybe a little less but it's still doing it. If I get on it at all it doesn't stumble bad at all... it's mostly when I'm just crusing in high gear and push in the throttle. Also it pretty much read lean the whole time again. Even though it was reading lean like it was... the car was running just fine, with the exception of the stumbling. And I still couldn't hear my BOV. By the way.... I didn't get any wheelspin like I used to get... thank god for Falkens.
We pull it into the garage again. My dad had the idea of tying open the secondaries. We get on the road and we still have the stumble... but again I think it may have made it a little better. Also we are still reading lean.
Back to the drawing board... my dad has another idea... he messes with the vacuum lines. He hooks up the line from the wastegate to the lower port on the BOV and hooks the boost controller to the top port of the BOV. We get it on the road and walla... loud *** BOV! Well we get down the road some more and I get on it a little bit and all of a sudden the **** goes to about 19psi of boost! I let off real fast and drive slowly back home. Obviously the boost controller works to an extent and hooking it up where he did didn't work. After he gave up for the night I mess with the Haltech and bump up the fuel at idle to get my air/fuel ratio up because it is reading lean even at idle. But it doesn't work.
So I guess my questions are:
1. Do I need a new boost controller?
2. Does anybody know the proper way to hook up the vacuum lines?
3. Could the cause of the stumbling, which we think is the motor not being able to burn all of the fuel, be that I need to upgrade my ignition system (distributer, wires, etc.)?
Thanks for your time guys, sorry for the lengthy post. I feel really good about this car, it's running even stronger than it used to! I just wanna get this thing running right.

the vaccum line for the wastegate must come from the intake tube after the turbo and before the throttle body, then in the middle of the vaccum line put your boost controller. For the bov the vaccum line start on the intake manifold after the throttle body directly to the bov. Be carefull not to run the car has you set it up the wastegate is not going to open that way

I don't know about this "not T'ing off the BOV". That is precisely what I did and my wastegate opens with no problems at the desired boost (only 7 for now).

The bov open when vaccum is created after the throttle body and the boost on the other side is over the spring setting. The wastegate open with boost pressure from the air tube going to the throttle body when there's to much boost it push on the rod and open the wastegate valve and bypass the exhaust turbine of the turbo. So if you put boost on the bov it's not going to open if you put vaccum to the wastegate it's not going to open. Either your bov doesn't work or the wastegate,i would go with the bov has you can have 7psi which means the wastegate open. Maybe your bov also work but it work because there's to much pressure behind it not because it set correctly, also if your running a bosch bov it open with or without vaccum ably to it at 7 psi, had one on my pro before my apexi. It work good for the start but i would suggest you to change it when you will have a chance and before going on higher boost has it will leak boost pass 7psi.
