The flywheel from mazdamotorsports is the mazdaspeed flywheel the JDM MP3 is what spawned that. There was a limited edition Mazdaspeed MP3 in japan with a limit run of 150 units. As for as turbo you are looking at alot of fab man just a heads up. get 3" if you can I'm running 2.5 inch as well as Spoolin is also. What type of turbo are you going to use? I knwo everyone is going to yell T3/T4!!!!!!!!! But honestly those turbos are too big unless it is an all out race car for our engines. Just go with a solid T3 or a T28. Make sure you get your fuel system correct. I'm running a 10:1 FMU and it does very well I run rich all the time on teh stock fuel system....and yes Jesse its the STOCK fuel system. Any other questions I will try to answer them the best i can.

Ok, we are talking about restrictions in the exhaust after turbo. What about that stupid cat and the O2 censors? I know I will have to have a turbo header but what do I do about the 2 stupid censors.

The easy way is to put a circuit in the #2 O2 sensor leads that fool the computer into thinking that there is a #2 sensor when there isn't. you want to keep the primary one as that is what adjusts part throttle fuel and spark. As for the cats, well, Tri-point eliminated the #1 cat but that's technically illegal. You could eliminate it and put a high flow one where the #2 cat is and then put them back on if you sell the car. BEGI is making a kit that will retain both cats in the factory positions which doesn't violate federal pollution laws. But then you will have to address how the stock cats flow. I opened up the exit to my #1 cat. I probably won't see maximum gains until I do a cat back though from the #2 cat rearward. I've got 2.25" from the #1 cat to the #2 cat now. I'm going to go 2.25-2.5 the rest of the way back in a month or so I think.

I stand corrected

Hey, you learn something new everyday. I thought you needed backperssure with turbo's also.

Traveler:
About the 2nd O2 sensor mod. I gutted the first cat and did this O2 sensor mod and it didn't work. I used a resistor and capicitor inline with the O2 sensor. I may have pulled a wire out when I was reinstalling it though. It should work though. I also may have the white and blue wires backwards. I'll swap the wires this weekend and try it again. The only thing that sucks is you have to wait about 3 days for the O2 sensor to come on again. I'll let you know the results.

AHHHH ok Jesse I thought by stock fuel system you meant fuel pump and injectors. In your case then no you can't run a pressurized system on the stock fuel system an additional injector or FMU will be needed.

Just noticed, Mazda Motorsports also has a 9 lb flywheel available for about three times the price of the 12 lb Japanese MP3 one.
