mating a VF8 to a VJ20 turbo
Well while researching on turbo's on yahoo , I bumped up on a GTX egroups that I am actually a member off and I did a search on the VJ20 turbo to see what was spoken about in the past.
egroups site GTX mazda
Well I found out that the VF8 turbo Compressor side can be mated to the VJ20 turbine housing ...
According the posts that I read the VF8 features a ball bearing turbine which the VJ20 would need some machineing to accept and the VF8 has a larger flow rate than the VJ20 and the complete set up would be equivalent to a T3 turbo (midsize).
I am still researching this and looking into it more. So don't bash me anyone ....
I posted the link to the site and you can do a search on there and keep readint the posts and you will come across the same items that I have ....
Something to help us go faster ....

I made mistake with upgrade on mine ihi turbo and its very hard to make high hp#'s with ihi vj 20 or vf 10. the problem with with them is too small exaust housing.u will gain peak hp wich is around mid power band like 3500 rpms and then power will drop. Upgrade compresor housing will flowmore air but thesame air u pump into engine it has to come out and ihi exaust housing is a big restrictor.U want a turbo that will make power at higher rpms not mid range.

Hey Bruce, sounds you and I are at the same stage of the learning curve, although I think you're slightly ahead of me ... I just figured out that's there's two parts to IHI turbos, lol! When I've been surfing eBay I see a lot of IHI RHB5 turbo that look like they'd work, but don't have the same exhaust housing, and then you've got to get the downpipe adapter (?), some I'm confused most of the time with what I'm looking at !
Btw, whatever happened with those Escort VJ-20 parts the guy was selling here?
