stupid question

i have the mazdaspeed and was wondering if it has a waste gate or is it all through the turbo. how hard is it to put a blow-off on it. another question which would be best a venom kit or nos. i heard that venom is all computer rised and a less chance to damage the engine. someone please help need to know

All turbo cars have wastegates. The MSP has an internal wastegate that is bolted to the turbo. Yes you can upgrade your blow-off valve (BOV). This has nothing to do with the wastegate however. I suggest using a BOV that can be vented back into the intake piping.. I have a Greddy Type-S on my Talon TSi and it's still loud even though it is vented back into the intake.

ones vented back to the intake is called bypass valve.....

wastegate controls the boost level by venting exhaust when the X amount of specified boost level is reached. internal (or integral) is usually what stock turbos come with, less piping, simpler, cheaper, but of course, less performance....when/if u upgrade ur turbo, and ur into upping the performance (or boost level), an external is a good way to go

I've even seen guys remove a vacuum line or two so that the wastegate is fully open all the time. what does this result in? tons of boost and tons of turbo lag? Just doesn't seem smart to me. My buddy owns a 2002 Jetta 1.8 Turbo. We put a 50 shot on it, and it's not bad. However, He has an automatic, and it bounces off of the rev-limiter between every gear now (no throttle switch, it's an electronic, cable-less throttle), so we're going to pull it off this weekend (and hook it up on my car...he he). But I've never been a fan of those fully self-contained zex (venom) systems. They read voltage from sensors to determine when your vehicle is at WOT, and then open the solenoid. If anything ever shorts or the sensor goes bad (or the zex brain goes bad) it could open the solenoid all the time (bad news!). I'd just say if you're turbo'd and you're looking for a small setup, pick up a cheap used bottle on ebay, buy a braided line, solenoid, and shark nozzle from Nitrous Express, a 50 shot jet (or even less maybe) and have a pieced-together dry system for less than $300.
