Do you think $4500.00 is a good price for that kit? it sounds like a lot but it comes with all of the extras.

i was hoping that for $4500 it would have the exhaust. It more than likely won't though. Can I order wholesale through my shop please?

We are aiming for a public release in the next 4-6 weeks depending on final calibrations with engine management. I will update you as soon as I have pictures and dyno information.

Just a quick update. We are finalizing calibrations on the factory ECU and will start on the MP3 ECU this week. This should go very quickly as there are very minor differences between the two. I should have dyno and pictures for you all early next week. I will post them as soon as I have them. I am still shooting for approx 175 horsepower for the low end kit, and approx 210 horsepower for the high end system. Keeping both factory cats has proven to be a bit of a challenge. We are still about 4 weeks out before we will be offering these kits for retail sale. Thanks for the interest everyone.

The pricing should still be around what I first stated. I will update you more as we dig into the MP3 chip. Thank you.

I am curious. What problems are you having with keeping both factory cats?

The problem is the mounting of the turbo to ensure good location for the front mount intercooler piping as well as getting good flow out of the downpipe. Unfortunatley the location of the first cat is pretty restrictive on the turbo kits ability to flow. On the low end system it won't be a problem, but on the higher boost system will will have a downpipe as well as a full turbo exhaust back option for the ultimate flow. The kit is almost complete, just a little more ECU work to be done.

How would it work for a manual but not an automatic? If the manual needs clutch work wouldn't we just need torque converter work and the internals to the tranny worked a lil?

Hey Thxbrett,
Any chance of you guys tuning an ECU for a Normally Aspirated application. I've got some mods done now and need a better fuel and ignition map. I took the turbo off my car and went high compression but it seems that M2 are the only people that have probed into the Protege ECU. Any cahnce of seeing this?

We will have a chip for the N/A P5/ Protege and also for the MP3. It is very simple to put the MP3 program into the regular Protege ECU. However we will try to make it even better for dome additional performance. The reason the Automatic is different is the ECU mainly as well as possibly some mounting points, and the exhaust. I am still seeing if an automatic option will be possible. It may not be released at the same time as the manual but I think there is a good chance we will have an auto kit availble quickly. Thank you for the replies everyone.

MP3 ECU to normal protege

By simple, do you mean for a Mazda tech with the right equipment? I want to get this done, and I would love to be able to do it cheaply. Please elaborate on how we can program the MP3 map on to the regular protege ECU.

If it is something that you are going to offer, can you let us know approximately when, how much it would cost, and what it would involve?

Thanks,
Sean

Brett: First of all, has a turbo kit been made for this car yet? If so, I'd like to know if it was pre-fab or just bolt on's. $3,700 sounds like a good bit of cash for a T28 that's only going to run half of what it's capable. You could use a smaller turbo, cheapen the kit, and end up with kit that spools faster and has less chance to blow the engine up. I still don't understand how a 2.0L requires a fuel upgrade when I'm running 9psi on a Honda 1.6L SOHC on stocker injectors, pump, and rail. Is this really necessary? Also, what plans have you made to address the timing and injector control for the boost? I don't think a kit from Link, AEM, or Haltech is available for the new models, but if it's available for the older 2.0L's, maybe the wire mapping is identical. I'm also interested in seeing pics of the install and dyno charts. Until then, happy boosting!
