After-market Outlawed??
Hey,
Some people have told me that they saw on the news that the Government ( don't know which branch ) was trying to implement a new law banning after-market goods on cars. Pretty much, It would be illegal to have any Mods on your cars. I think this is just a liberal way of saying "Oh gee, we don't like hearing those loud mufflers while we have tea". Any one heard of this??? I hope its a farse.

it will NEVER happen.
#1. Look at all of the companies, wholesalers, retailers, assembly workers, manufacturers, fabricators, mechanics, speed shops it would put out of business. Do you think the government wants to start paying these people unemployment on otp of not getting their tax money?!?!
#2. Our right to modify is (in a round about way) guarded in the constituion. We have the right to persue happiness. As long as we keep everything "eco-friendly" there is nothing they can ever say or do to change that.

Yes, valued points indeed...thats pretty much what happened when MOST of the coolest firearms were deemed "illegal". Most of those companies were mom-pop operations that had been in business for years. Plus, if they outlaw mods, then will they try to outlaw loudpipes on Harleys?? I think they make more noise!
"If Mods are outlawed, only outlaws will have mods"

Rod, I'd like to notify you of a recent engagment with a ricey Protege 5 I ran into today. The woman had it dropped, added rims, and custom paint. I first thought she was hot just because of her car. Then I heard the imfamous rattle like a penny in a coffee can. I jumped out of my car and laughed at her. I then pointed tward wretched sound being emitted from the massive, stainless-steel bag hanging from the vehicles frame.
"What are you lauging at?" She questioned
"I'm laughing at that cowbell mechanizm that you call a muffler. It's like having a built-in rice cooker." I replied.
"Get F&*#ed she yelled back."
Thats where it ended. Hopefully the world will be a better place now.

Rod... a little clarification. Your right to mod your car isn't protected by $hit cuz the government owns the roads. We don't often look at it this way but the state views our ability to drive a privledge. This is more apparent overseas--look at Germany, they have to PAY for their licenses! And they're not the only ones.
Back-in-the-day your vehicle had to pass inspections to be considered road-worthy. They stopped this practice because quality control among automotive manufacturers is much better now than it was 20-30 years ago; and due to the sheer increase of vehicles on the road today--testing is not cost-worthy.
With boon-dogles such as the Ford/Firestone fiasco, automotive safety is back in the lime-light. Modding your car CAN result in your car not passing government regulations for safety and emmisions. This would make your car TECHNICALLY not road-worthy. Fact is there are thousands of such cars on the raod today. If Fast and the Furious never came out it there may have never been an issue
