Yeah supposedly it will be built alongside the next generation Ford Focus. I read that the Mazda version will have a sedan and hatchback/wagon version while the Focus version will have a full trunked wagon, 2 and 4 door hatchback, and sedan/and possibly even a regular coupe...

In person its impressive. I like the wheel design alot. Its alot curvy for my tastes unlike the clean lines of the current Protege. I think it'll fit in well tho wit the RX-8.

Actually, if I read the text correctly, the vehicle will be the third new Mazda vehicle, following the Mazda6 and the RX-8, to be introduced within an 18 month period. Since the Mazda6 came out last fall, and the RX-8 is coming out now, 9 months later, that would indicate the new Mazda3 will be out within 9 months, or about January of next year.

Do you all know this stuff to be fact? I want to be the first person in my area with the new car.... I love this car, and can't wait til it comes out. I had planned on purchasing a new protege, but if this is definatly coming out, then I am definately waiting for this beauty.....

Mazda's New Protege

I saw it at the NYC international auto show, and to me, it looked like a smaller, wagon version, of the Mazda6 (see the back lights). Hey, it will have it's engine. I read in Car and Driver, and Motor Trend, that the new P5 will have 160hp. The dual exhaust looks bad ***, and it looks very RX-8 like from the high view. It also looks like it has some RX-8 wheels. If I knew this would be comming out, I might have held off on my 2003 MP5. Hey, maybe I could still work something where I could make the same payments. I got 0% financing for 5 years on my MP5, so I would probably have a hard time carring it over. Hey, lets hope that it's just as nice inside. I also found at the auto show that cars that sorta looked like the MP5 had nowhere close to the quality of interior that the newer Protege's do, especialy the Subaru's. Damn... those things look JUST like our cars inside.
