Front Licence Plate Law?

Front Licence Plate Law?
Anyone know the law for having a front licence plate in Illinois? I was pretty sure that I needed to have mine on, but hopefully I am wrong. The pro5 looks soo much better with the plate off.
Thanks, Brad.

i knew a guy when i lived in colorado who had an acura. Colorado requires a front plate, but he told the cop when he would get pulled over that because it is a foreign car and there is no place to put the license plate, he didn't have to... it seemed to work for him...

hey zoom_x_two...another note for ya. technichally anything not stock on your car is also illegal in illinois. i found this out when i got ticketed for an illegal exhaust. its been awhile since that happened...but as far as i know they arent going to pull you over unless your doing something stupid(which i really wasnt..but owell he got me). but i figured id throw that tidbit in there in case you had any more questions about car laws and mods.

Just set the plate under your front seat. By law, any new car that is sold in a state requiring 2 plates, is supposed to give you a bracket for the front. If you get pulled over, tell the cop the dealership has ordered you bracket, and show him you plate. There isn't much else he can do.

Plate Laws
Well, in MA, they will not inspect your car without the plate on the front. Ive had cops look right at my car, never been stopped. A friend of mine who's a cop says you don't need it, but some people say you do...But like some of you said...screw em! If Gays can get married here, I can run my car without my plate!!!

Dumpster, please expound on that connection you draw between gay marriage and front license plates. I fail to understand your argument. I am glad you haven't been stopped for not having the plate on. I think front plates are an eye sore on today's new aerodynamic cars. Thankfully you only need the plate on the back here in PA.

pps... sorry to threadjack! back to license plates!

No No No.
Sorry, no dis-respect, what I meant was that if such a law can be passed in this state, then why can't I do something simple, that doesn't hurt or bother anyone. I don't want to get into a political debate here, I think Yahoo has sites for that!

hey Dumpster, thank you for clarifying your point. just thought i'd put my two sense in. I drive into work every morning listening to (often yelling at) news radio and on certain days I seem more fired up than usual. Today happened to be one of those days...

Yeah I'm in Illinois also, and I've gotten pulled over for no front plate. I just tell them I was showing the car the weekend before and forgot to put it on. (Not like I show it yet tho) But like kcidmil said... under the front seat, I just slip mine between the ebrake and the seat, and if they ask I will show them. But your right it looks so sweet without the front plate, there's no way I'll put mine on.
