Going to Volvo on Friday to haggle a new toy

I saw this new C30 and got hooked instantly. It's not a great performer when compared to the MS3 but there are some BIG perks to buying this car. For starters it's boosted and runs on 87 octane! A chip adds an additonal 34whp and 32wtq (requires 92).

The one I've built out isn't loaded up but that's the only way I could convince the wife it was worth the money. $25.7K for 227hp, 6spd, twin intercoolers, body kit, wheels, dual 3.5" exhaust, etc etc. I think it's a great bang for the buck. Oh yeah and they're throwing in a FREE 15 day vacation for two in Sweden when you buy the car. You custom order the car and they fly you to their factory so you can watch the car being built. Then they insure it for up to 15 days and let you tour Europe. When you're done you bring it back to the factory and they ship it to your home 2 weeks later. They put you up for 1 night free in their 5 star hotel down the street from the factory. Limo's to and from the airport and meals included.

Did I mention it's BADASS looking?

This is the color and package I'm wanting to order. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

That's one hot Volvo! Good new toy, hell, the trip itself is worth half that pricetag!

i havent bought anything yet...I'm going to haggle with them. $25.7k is what I'm wanting to pay. They're wanting me to pay more. We'll see how it goes.

Yes, the sweden trip is for real. It's listed on their website and the dealers will boast about when you mention "custom order".

It's typically a $575 package deal for the trip but almost every dealer will offer to throw it in for free if you push them a little. They have it on sale right now for $199 if you go before december. The issue is that I may place order on friday and have them tell me I'm in line for 3 months before I can go. Then I have to pay for 3 months on a car I haven't taken delivery of.

what do you guys think of the white w/ bronze kit?? My wife says only black people would buy that (faux lexus look). I told her it was pimp and to stfu. My other choice is laser blue (like the old womper) and titanium grey kit. I don't think it would stand out though.

just fyi, for $955 you can get a softloader (think accessport) that will take it from 227bhp and 236btq to 255whp and 289wtq.

The cars come factory tuned for 87 octane and low psi. this re-flasher bumps it for 92 octane and turns the boost up. That's a hair more than a stock MS3 puts out right now. Should make it fun....if I can get away with it.

one of the worst center consoles I've seen. But it does look pretty cool, and it would be good to welcome you back the the hatch crowd.

Can't you get the kit to match the body color? That would be best IMO.

For that money I'd just get an MS3 with its two extra doors, more factory power, and way better suspension tuning.

Volvo has been doing european delivery forever, but you have to find a dealership that'll do it.

Best Volvo (rochester) does not, but they have two demo C30s (on base, one the version 2) here as of a couple weeks ago.

absolutely STUNNING in person.

If I wasn't in school, I would have one (and an na miata as its companion). It's just a great car.

As for the MS3 .. yeah better handling, but 100x more ugly (no offense to any owners). plus, not all of us want the extra doors.

same chassis though.. just shortened a lot (I think like 10 inches or more if I recall correctly) over the S40 (don't know how the s40 size compares to the 3 sedan).

the C30 is just friggin pimp

my wallpaper on this laptop(pretty base model.. hence unpainted kit):

Chris, I didn't say everyone wants four doors; I just indicated my personal preference.

Yeah, I don't keep anything for very long. My p5 lasted almost 3 years...longest EVER. I loved that car.

I really like the look of the car more than anything. A re-flasher and catback transforms the vehicle into an MS3 competitor but then the same mods on the MS3 make it faster...obviously. I'm not really buying it for performance. I just want to look ******' awesome going down the road with my swedish vacation tan.

So we've got 1 vote against the white/bronze?? My vote is FOR it so that's even now. Opinions please.
