The funny thing is that this ATX transmission can be easily fixed up to last forever for about 3 grand in labor and parts combined. Which is cheaper than purchase and install of a new transmission.
Its mainly dependent on driving habits but for the most part these transmission are relativly weak.

Not like the old days when we could do daily burnouts and never have problems.
Back when I was in school I walked 2 miles in the snow, uphill both ways...

I wouldn't panic. I've seen two automatic transmission P5s with 50k+ in the area and both are running great. Assuming you don't drive the vehicle like a race car and exhibit proper maintenance/care you'll be fine.
A 2.0L 130hp vehicle can only be worked so hard.

All I know is that my old 85 626 did a hell of alot of burnouts and that things got over 350k on it now. Engine has been replaced once but the tranny is still there working hard. My little G5M has only seen ocassional rain burnouts minus one dry burnout early in its life. Yet the spider gears in the differential broke. I know I guy who drag races this little car and sheared the teeth off with a completly stock car.
