I bought a honda...a 1cyl honda
Does that make me a traitor? Afer months of searching I finally bit the bullet on my new D.D. It's an 04 Honda Reflex Sport. It's a 250cc single cylinder, liquid cooled with cvt. It has 5400 miles on it and averages right at 70mpg. The guy I bought it from was 340lbs and he drove up to about 84mph yesterday. I figure it'll get me around alabaster pretty easily. I'm not looking for anything fast fast but quick enough to lug me around with ease. I drove it a little today (no helmet or jacket) and it felt real solid at 45mph. I went to Pelham Powersports and ordered a new riding jacket. It's red (to match) and has the honda logo on the back. My new helmet will be here next week. It's a modular design where the lid and chin piece will raise up so I can drink without removing the helmet. It has a cruise control module built on as well as a cupholder and upgraded backrest. I'm probably going to remove the backrest as it makes me hunch over when riding.
After driving it a little today the wife has told me she's interested in getting one as well so while we were at Pelham P.sports we priced a new Yamaha Vino 125cc. They have them on sale and it'll easily do what she needs all while being short enough for her feet to touch. I'm going to give this one a few thousand miles before buying her one so maybe she'll take it and let me buy the Kymco Xciting500 I had my eye on.

It's actually a lot bigger than other scoots I was looking at. I don't feel cramped up unless I'm deep leaning into a turn. I just hang a knee out like a sport bike racer and I'm good to go!
Hell, I may drive it up your way soon. My brother lives up there and I haven't visited him in a few years.

I don't know if I can be seen with someone NOT on a scooter.
Just fyi my wife is getting a Yamaha Vino 125 classic and she's joining a local girls scooter club.... "Hooters on Scooters" I previously tried to get her into a girls scooter racing club "Mods and Knockers." She thought that was funny.

I had my first full day with it and put about 50 miles on it. I LOVE IT. I highly suggest you guys go and buy some sort of scooter at some point in your life.
$6.50 for a premium fillup and it'll go a little over 210miles. My insurance is $12/month for full comprehensive including theft, fire, accident etc. $500 deductible.
MSRP new is $5500. In 04 it was $5700. Book value on this scooter is a little over $3500. I paid $2250 out the door. I could total it right now and MAKE $1300. Of course the longer I have it the more money it'll save me in operation expenses.
I figure I'll sell it next year and buy a new one.

First full tank of gas gone and I got 69mpg. This wasn't exactly babied either. I had to verify it's top speed claim of 84mph a few times. I had to see if I could get accurate 0-45mph times. I had to jump a few unsuspecting mustangs off the line....and of course I had to go for a midnight 100 mile cruise.
I can't describe the feeling of having a hard day of work and jumping on it and hitting the backroads for an hour or two. Sure, I've done it in fancy cars that handle like racecars. Still there is no comparison. There's a certain openness about feeling the wind hit you from all over while you can smell each new city you enter (do NOT try this in Jersey).
I think I'll be buying a new Kymco Xciting 500cc and selling this one to buy the wife a new Vino 125cc. While the Reflex 250 is plenty to get me around town quickly I think I'm going to be taking a lot more long road trips in the next few months (once it cools down).
I never would've though $5500 for a scooter would be a good deal.

I don't know how much fun it would be in the cold of canada but my reflex has heater vents that blow hot air from the radiator onto your hands and knees. SUCKS in summer time!

Not really a comparison, but I miss my motorcycle. I can definitely tell you that the open air feeling is basically the same, it is a BLAST! I got about 45-50 mpg on it. Nice scoot and it seems like your having tons of fun on it!

Oh yeah. most fun I've had in a commute in a long time.
I've gotten a few offers to buy it recently and I may do it and snag up the larger 500cc Kymco Xciting if the price is right.
