Interesting Mazdaspeed 6 Info
MAZDASPEED6
The MAZDASPEED6 is not only the most powerful Mazda sold in the United States, but also the countries first gasoline direct injection turbocharged car.
By introducing direct injection to turbo applications, Mazda has circumvented the usual drawback of turbocharging -- poor low- and mid-range torque -- while meeting strict exhaust regulations. By injecting fuel directly into the combustion chamber and allowing it to vaporize under more controlled conditions than in the intake tract, fuel mixture loading efficiency is improved and torque is increased by up to 10 percent at around 3,000 rpm over a conventional intake system.
Direct injection also yields an internal cooling effect within the combustion chamber, allowing a high 9.5:1 compression ratio. The turbocharger delivers significant boost from the moment the accelerator is engaged at approximately 2,500 rpm.
The car is rated at 274 horsepower and 280 foot-pounds of torque.
Along with direct injection, Mazda engineers developed a high-performance six-speed transmission specifically for the MAZDASPEED6. Mazda chose low gears for strong acceleration and high overdrive gears for high-speed cruising.
In addition, the MAZDASPEED6 features Active Torque Split All-Wheel Drive. Unlike simple front-wheel-drive-with-rear-assist systems that only activate rear-wheel drive when the front wheels slip, Active Torque Split constantly channels drive power to the rear wheels under all conditions. Because of the extensive electronic controls, the system responds almost instantly to traction changes at any single wheel, routing power to the wheels with greatest grip.

until you read the perfromance stats...... They can make all of the great advances they want but when you're only .1s faster than a standard V6 5spd car you have a lot of distraxting to do.
I was real excited about this when I first heard abo9ut it because I thought it would be a mazda Evo8....nah....it's just a legacy GT....only slower with portly handling.

You know I've been thinking. Those numbers cant be true. There is no way mazda would let it out if it only beat the 6 by a .10. But then again it does have that hp sucking all wheel drive.
