trip computer

Has anyone installed a 2006 radio in a 2004 Mazda 3 Sport and had the trip computer work?

Does anybody have audio head's firmware?

I think it's basicaly software unlock and it's possible to find a new unlock for Mazda3 08 by inspecting audio head's firmware. Or even unlock DIS by editing firmware... Service centers probably have firmware for Mazda 3 audio head unit... Does anybody have it? Or does anybody know how to read and flash head's firmware?

Thanks for this tip! I just unlocked my trip computer on my 2007 Mazda 3i touring... others might be interested to know that I had to alter the steps slightly in order to get it to work. I tried it several times by holding the FM/AM and CD buttons while starting the engine, and nothing happened. When I held the FM/AM and CD buttons while turning the key to the "ON" position (without starting the engine), the "DIS ON" message popped up, and everything worked as expected.

Trip computer activation

Thanks to _Kansei_ for the tip on activating the DIS and to enganear for the notes about changing the radio. For me, _Kansei's_ trick did not work (2008 iTouring, 2.0). I saw the DIS display light up as the instructions indicate, then I turned off the engine. However, when I restarted the car, nothing happens when I press ":00" (no INFO button on my car). I noted that the DIS lights up for only a few seconds then disappears, so maybe that toggles it back and forth from ON/OFF. So I thought maybe I wasn't turning the car off fast enough (e.g. while DIS is in the ON mode before the display goes blank again). That didn't make any difference.

My conclusion is that there must be certain cars in the production years that have this capability (like enganear mentioned about it maybe having some connection with the radio itself). I don't have a solution. I have a 6 CD changer already. Seems odd though, that I can SEE the DIS option, but after turning car off then back on again, nothing is different when I try to access the trip computer with either the "SET" button on the steering wheel OR the ":00" button on the radio itself.

I'm open for any suggestions, but I think I covered all the possible options...unless there is a trick I have not thought of?
