your last question should be your first!

Autocross is simply a style of racing that involves more turns than say NASCAR. There are a several types of autocross....solo 1, solo 2, rallycross, etc....

Most people who talk auto-x are talking about solo 2. The protege is VERY Nice for solo 2.

do you need to modify your protege?? NO, you should learn to drive it first. Once you reach the limits of your skill you'll know better what to upgrade on your car to compliment your driving style.

ask questions, ask for help and most importantly be patient and dont expect to win your first event, I've been at this for over 4 years now and love it....the Protege is an EXCELLENT first SOLO car..

Another "harumphh!" for the Protege, a most excellent Solo II car, for the beginner or Old Fart's like me.

Definitely drive it in HS class- then move up- you will have a lot of fun running this car at the trackk. Run it stock until you notice something that the car is doing or not doing that you want to fix- then move it from there- you will find out that most of what you want the car to do is the driver not the car... Great experience to have
