Humor. . . or is it?

I remember reading Car & Driver in the mid '80s when they had entered the One Lap of America in a 1st generation S-10 Blazer(their first mistake). Halfway across the USofA their auto tranny starts puking fluid to point they are losing gears. So they rig the window washer bottle up as an "on the fly" cure. They fill it with ATF, and run the hose into the tranny dipstick hole. Every time they start to lose 2nd or 3rd gear, they just push the button and keep driving. They made it another couple hundred miles before blowing it up completely.
So I'm thinking, everyone autocrossing in STS is probably using the Falken Azenis Sport. They work OK, but get greasy when they get hot, leading to most people wetting them down between runs with cold water. It seems to help a bit. What if you could fill the window washer bottle with ice water, run the hoses down to a spray nozzle (like the ones sticking out of the hood) and mount it in the fenderwell just above the front tires so that while you are running you could just. . . . . . . Oh never mind!

I see what you're saying....it's a neat idea, but wouldn't that cause problems with spraying fluid on the track?? Thats a big no-no when it comes to racing.

Good point.
Also, Azenis suck on wet tarmac. Cool 'em off between runs, but dry them off too.

Yeah, I was thinking more along a "misting" of water, not enough to leave a tire track. But it was all just "too much free time," and some Vicodin from the root canal I'm getting. It was meant for amusement.

Indeed, Kevin McCormick (past Nat'l and likely future STS Nat'l champ) swears by the MX's regarding the heat/greaseball issue. He gets his shaved for dry use, and full depth for rain. He recently switched to 7.5" wide front wheels with the MX's and is killing everyone in STS. When my Falkens go to Tire Heaven I will try the Kumhos.
