Import/Compact Show & Race Fans
Are you an import/sport compact performance fanatic? Then this weekend’s IDRC East Coast Finals may be the greatest event you will ever see. All of the IDRC’s heads-up classes will be featuring the biggest and best names in the sport. Get ready for the crowning of the Grand Champion of import/sport compact drag racing.
In the Toyo Tire Pro Class, the stage is set for an entire field of 7-second rockets including Matt Hartford’s 7.38-second Hoyos Racing Focus, Sammy Benitez’ 7.59-second and his Zapco RX-7, Sammy Promotion and his 7.64-second Mazda MX-6, Rafael Rivera and his 7.66-second RX-7, Chivi King and his 7.68-second Paseo, Marcos Acosta and his 7.74-second MX-3 and Dave Buschur 8.12-second Talon. Special invites have also been delivered to the 7.33-second Siguel Racing RX-7 and the 7.56-second 300ZX of Contreras Auto. Which of these titans will have a shot at the big B&M jackpot?
Are you more of an Apex Integration Outlaw class fan? Then you are going to love this action-packed field as Carlos Gonzalez and his Mazda RX-3 “Steph Killer” will attempt to blow past Stephan Papadakis for the points lead in the IDRC’s $128,500 championship. “Pepe Loco” Carlos Montano and the Lopez Production crowd-pleaser of Juan Lopez may have other ideas of who will make it to the winner’s circle. Of course, we can never rule out the Supras of Craig Paisley (2001 NHRA Champion) and Vinny Ten (IDRC World Record Holder for Elapsed Time in this Class). You will also see the World Premiere of a never-seen-before FWD Outlaw challenger. Who’s it going to be? Be there to see it yourself.
Do you love the Nitto Tire/Turbo Magazine Quick Class that features stock-chassis vehicles on the verge of breaking into the 8s? You won’t want to miss this as Mike Crawford’s 9.07-second Neon, Sean Glazer’s 9.1-second Talon, Brent Rau’s 9.2-second Eclipse and Gary Gardella’s 9.2-second Honda will all crank the boost to the max to become the first Quick class racer into the 8s. These four racers will attempt to make the ultra-quick field of 16. Only one of these racers will win their class and have a chance at the “ginormous” (sic) B&M jackpot.
In the All-Motor Class, Fred Ellis will try to extend his points lead over Scott Kelly, Scott Mohler and Bisi Ezerioha. No turbos, no nitrous, no problems for this class.
In the APC Street Class, one of the tightest and most competitive championships is getting even more heated. The top four points leaders will wage war on radials. John Shepherd, Ari Yallon, Steven Kan and Jeff Hill will all be pushing their cars to the limits to win the class, points and a chance at the jackpot.
The Ford Racing Performance Parts Super Comp, Super Mod and Super Stock brackets should be filled to capacity with East Coast racers looking for their chance at the jackpot.
Meguiar’s Movement One East Coast Finals Showcase
Looking to see the best-looking show cars on the entire East Coast? The purse and amount of trophies has been raised to bring out them out for the Meguiar’s Movement One East Coast Finals. With everyone at the show voting for their favorites, these winners will truly have the ultimate bragging rights.
B&M $47,000 Challenge
B&M Racing Performance Products is excited to be involved in the first-ever B&M Challenge. The potential is for the biggest single-event payout ever…up to $30,000. The first 500 racers will be eligible for this event. From each $100 tech card entry, $60 will go directly to the jackpot. If the maximum 500 racers are in attendance, then $30,000 will go to the winner of the challenge. This is in addition to the $17,500 in payouts before the challenge even begins. Any one is eligible for the challenge whether you drive a 7-second Pro car or a 19-second slow car. The winners from each heads-up class and the three brackets will square-off in a winner takes all challenge that bracket races the 8 cars to a single champion. Will it be you?

I was at the IDRC show here on October 10th (where some ******* broke my tail light!) Anyway, I saw Brent Rau's eclipse hit 9.351 to win the Nitto Tires/Turbo Magazine quick class finals against Brent Leivestad's car that hit 9.84. It was a crazy show! If you go, have fun!

kinda off topic a bit, but i caught a bit on ESPN about import drags and this RX-7 (RX-7.com, with the US flag paint job) ran an 8.6. It was said he has NEVER been beat yet (not sure if that meant just this year, or to date???)
