La Carrera Panamericana

a buddy of mine and i have got a crazy idea to run the la carrera race in mexico this year. 1800 miles of mexican desert highways with unlimited speed sections.
i will be navigator/mechanic/co-driver. we'll have 2 other drivers and a chase truck.
anyway my question is;
it's a T/S/D event, how does the timing work? is it based on the lead car?

here's a linkLa Carrera Panamericana

For TSD rally you usually are scored based on a "correct" or "perfect" time of reaching each checkpoint. Then how far ahead of or behind that time you are determines your score.

Sounds like something similar to Targa Newfoundland, although that is tarmac .. along the Atlantic coast

that article is what started the whole idea. we are running a 65 mercury comet 2 dr with a 330hp 289.

thanks for the answer on the timing, it makes complete sense now.
