What's the fastest all motor Protege?
#16
Those Si's already have a well tuned engine. I also have a weight advantage. 3rd gen Proteges weight quite a bit, especially the P5s. If he got 16 seconds stock with 165hp, and I'm getting 16.3 with 125hp(stock) and only a muffler, the gains I make in power, will net a faster 1/4mile time.
ie. My car weighs 2300lbs, has 125hp, and it does the quarter in 16.3@84. Adding 25hp to my car, will drop me into the 14s.
His car weighs 2700lbs, has 165 and does the quarter in 16, then adding 25hp will make him only a little faster in the end.
I'm not worried about how long it will take to make my car fast. I know what I'm doing, and I know how to make horsepower. There won't be much experimenting in what I'm doing...I have a game-plan. I'm not just going to bolt on parts, and hope I get power. I'm doing some custom work, so it gets power where I want it. With all my bolt-on work done this year, and head/cam work in the winter, there's no reason I won't be low 14s next year, maybe even 13s with stand alone engine management.

I don't have torque. My engine is much different from yours. 1.8DOHC, 125hp 114lb/ft torque. Power is up high too, 6500rpm, with 7300rpm fuel cutoff. The BP normally dynoes more than the FS too, and the FS is rated 5hp more. Best baseline run I've seen of the FS was 105, worst I've seen for the BP was 107. I got 111.
Your car does have more torque though, and you need it. My car is super light, so I don't need it. It's all about high rpm power for me...........

Yeah ... i been friends with them since 98 and i quit my IT job and work at the shop now. I designed their webpage and I am going to take over the management ( let the guys do what they do best ... cars ) and i am also opening up a online store.
Any of you guys here deal with them ?
What is the general concent ?

well...i didn't want to do this...but i just might have to take my car back to the track when it gets a teensy bit warmer! i figured that the hp gains might net a low 16 or 16-flat, but perhaps with driving (and me being a featherweight and all) i can break into the 15s?

I haven't been to A-Spec myself, but my friend Mike Moschella bought his 93 GT there, and he's there all the time. I'm going to be picking up an RX-7 AFM from A Spec. I heard they have a few.
Phantom. You'll need a lot of work to hit the 15s, even if you are light. P5s are heavy. You'll need at least 130whp to hit 15s in your car.

I'm due for another dyno check to make sure.

How close? What have you dynoed so far, and with what mods? What mods do you have now? Also, what was your best drag time? I'm curious since as to what mods got you how much power....

the best response i can give you is click on the pic in my sig which will take you to my website, from there click on the 'banana' link at the top and that will take you where you need to go. the car has not been run in the current configuration and it has changed since the last dyno.
thanks,
karen

I can't view that page. I get a component driver mismatch, and it shuts down my browser. why don't you just tell me how much power you're getting, and what mods you've done since then?

stock i ran 16.8@81.5, dyno'd 102hp & 114tq
i dyno'd with intake, muffler, cams & header 120hp & 125tq but never ran it at the track...
there have been a couple of changes here and there, i'd tell you, but then i'd have to kill you ...
sorry about my page, perhaps the server had issues?

Those numbers sound right for a P5. It's funny how the BP1.8 dynoes more than the new 2.0. My baseline was 111whp(with an axle back and power steering removed). Your might might be close to the 15s. I know I'm there, but haven't been to the track to prove it. I'm making 115whp with only 2300lbs to pull.
