2009 mazda3 wont start
Hey guys, new on this forum, plase bear with me. After looking at just about every piece of research i could think, i finally settled on buying my daughter a 2009 mazda3 iT/2.0L at for her first car. While running around town today, she got in, turned the key, and nothing would happen. Battery is good, lights work/bright, etc, but when you turn the key, the solenoid makes no sound like trying to engage the starter. confused:
If i were a patient man I would have done a thread search before posting this, my apologies...there appear to be a service bulletin on this, will let yall know!
I dont see the shift indicator at all, no matter what gear i shift to...now if i could just find where the dad-blamed shift indicator position switch is located...anybody know?
Well, all i can say is that red key emblem continues to flash very fast, the "AT" symbol stays lit, and there is no shift position lit up on the dash...helpppppp!!!!!!!!!!!

Follow-up from above. After 4 hours of labor @ Mazda dealership and trying to sell me a pcm (which I knew wasn't the problem) unsuccessfully. the mechanic started testing the circuits going into the pcm and found no juice, he unbolted the junction box, and started testing them and restored power to the pcm but it still didnt want to start. upon racking the junction box with power still on, he heard the main relay stay clicking and the car would start, indicating a short somewhere. i have brought the car home and it again quit but this time would start in the neutral shift position, suggesting a shift postion indicator problem or a possible immobilzer concern referred to as section 09-02a in service bulletin #01-037/08 posted by www.finishlineperformance.com. can somebody post the test instructions for the immobilizer concern spoken of in section 09-02a?

I had the same issue....
I have a 2008 Mazda 3 i Touring where I had the same issue. I had to put my shift in neutral in order to start the car. I took it to the dealer and was told that there is a short in the shfter (mine is an automatic). They ordered the wire and charged me $100 to repair it. It takes only about 30-45 mins to complete the repair.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have gotten yours repaired. thanks

You should have a second key for the car to try, or try the reprogramming procedure in the owners manual.

Mine is doing th same thing as in the video!
2009 Mazda3 141,151 miles
Haven't had any issues until I tried to go to the grocery store today. It sat on Saturday with me briefly turning it on to roll up the window. A couple hours ago, after sitting in the sun all day, wouldn't start. I had this thread pulled up and saw something about pushing the gas when turning the key. It worked. I can't find that other post, I think he said the cold start was bad. Anyone know anything about that?
The blower motor died earlier this year, but I don't believe the issues are related.
