Caution Skyactiv owners. You might be killing your engine
Hey guys, I am here because I want to share a tiny bit of information to all owners of the newer Skyactiv technology engines. On the 2.0 models you are supposed to use 4.5q synthetic 0-20w. Also, the 2.5 models should take 5.3q of the same synthetic oil.
Here is where the plot thickens. I work in a Mazda dealership and we have seen that some engines get overfilled even while adding the recommended amounts. A few weeks back we saw a vehicle with the intake completely flooded with oil because of this. My suggestion is, add 4.1q for the 2.0 models and 5.0q for the 2.5 ones. After this, turn your car on and let it idle for about 15 seconds. After which, turn the car off and check the oil level and add if needed. Remember, you should always try to be as close as possible to the top dot without going over.
Hope this information helps, as I would hate to service your car because of this annoying fact.
