Mazda Extended Warranty???a
Hello,
I have a 2004 Mazda 3, with 45,700 miles on it. My warranty ends when I hit 50,000. I am debating whether I should get the Mazda extended vehicle coverage (4yrs or 100,000) which is going to be $3168.72. They said they can finance it for 12 months interest free.
I am still debating whether I should get this coverage or not. I haven't had to take my Mazda 3 in for anything that serious yet. I only had to take it in one time when they changed the oil wrong and caused an oil leak and one time where my gas cap was giving a faulty check engine light error.
Has anyone else purchased the extended warranty for their mazda? The guy I spoke with on the phone wanted to sign me up right there on the spot on my first call. I told him I had to think about it. but he said the free finance deal was only available for the initial call only. I told him that i'd have to think about it, so he extended the free finance deal until the end of the day today.
Please post me your thoughts on this, i need help with this decision.
Thank you,
JP

If you have had no issues so far, you're likely treating the car well enough that it won't fail quickly. Is it making any noises, engine rattles, loose steering or anything else that may be covered? Also how long will you keep the car?

Depending on when you bought your car, it looks like you'd reach 4 years before you reach 100K miles, which would give you a cost of over 3 grand for (probably) at most a two year extension. I'd say it's not worth it. Just maintain your car properly.
Also, if you read the fine print, you'll find that 'wear items' aren't covered, which would usually be what would need replacing anyway.

The $3K price tag seems high; I would shop around further. When I had my 2004 BMW 3 series it was $2K+ for a similar warranty extension. Some of these companies have a deductible to that can substantially lower the bill and still protect you for something serious.

I have been getting the exact same letters for my B2300.
I think they said it was $19.95 to extend warranty (but that may have been monthly charge?)
Don't bother with it, its a way for company to make money.
The complaints I've had have been from new and its 'normal' so nothing is being done.
(hard 1st gear selection, seat back, right front wheel bearing, battery failure at 3 yrs)
Truck is almost 4 yrs old (Feb 08) but only has 43,000 miles.
Fortunately I can do any work needed if necessary.
For over $3,000 you could get quite a bit done if needed, and if nothing goes wrong you saved yourself a bunch of cash
Just my opinion, if you don't ask you wont get.

Verifying supposed existing 100K wtty?
New to the group. Recently (1 week ago) purchased 04 Mazda3 hatchback. 38K on speedo & seller (auto broker) claimed it had a 'Certified Mazda 100K Wtty'. No paper docs to support this however. How do I go about documenting this? Am more than pleased with the car regardless, but solid proof of this extra wtty would be definitely a plus. Thanks, JeffD
