My Motor is Shot!!!!

Today I recieved a phone call from the Mazda Dealer, They said the motor was shot and would have to order one to install. I have a 07 Hatch with 9105miles on it and bought it new 6 months ago it has already had a sep belt tensioner repaced and is in need if a new one again now the motors bad. I must say I no longer want the car! I want a new one. Would this fall under the Lemmon Law for full replacment?

wow that sucks. I think lemon law is like 3+ repairs but not exactly sure, theres alot of legal stuff. Atleast the dealer isnt trying to blame it on you to make you pay for it.

I'd MAKE them pay for the wheel. Your car doesn't even have 10k on it yet!! It's still new! I'd also think about trying a different dealer if they couldn't fix your problem the 1st time around. A belt that's too tight could do serious damage to your engine.

That sucks about the car...Hopefully it's just shoddy worksmanship from the dealer that's the problem... You have to go to the dealer for the same problem, and have them tell you it's fixed three times before you can try for the Lemon Law. I had a lemon VW back in the day, and they fought me tooth and nail until the bitter end.

I got my money back, though, and it's been Mazdas ever since.

The Mazda 3 uses a chain if I am mistaken, and making one of the accessory belts too tight won't cause engine damage. Are you sure you/they really know what the problem is?

You can fry the bearing to whichever acc the belt is tightened down on, killing that accessory and potentially causing serious problems with your motor.

Got the new motor

Well I picked up the car about 2 weeks ago. They did put a new motor in( Block )it. The car feels slower now than it did and is making a strange noise so I have to take it back.I have all the paperwork and I'm sending it out this week to pursue the Maryland lemon law. As far as the wheel ,the towing co. will be paying for replacement. Can you believe the dealer's quote is 465$ for 1 wheel. Sounds like a new set of aftermarket wheels may be coming soon!

well i will tell you that my engine blew on me too on the freeway, after 21,000k miles. i have heard that it is somewhat common for that to occur. supposedly, the engine oil the dealer uses is too lean and so they are switching the default engine motor oil to 10w30. that might have contributed to it. it will run slower until you break in the engine, keep in mind that that is something you must do again. the noises are fairly normal unless they are excessive. it is going to seem like it is running hotter to, but that is because it is setting in.

craziness i know but all in all it worked out.

well i am in irvine. but the default oil used to be 5w20. make sure they use 10w30 now, as that is going to change soon. this is what i have been told the engine needs. ask your dealer about it too

It worked out in the sense that no money came out of my pocket but I did spend months dealing w/this issue running back and forth and, it's still not over. Irvine,CA. , I just sent a Lemon Law letter to Mazda's Consumer Operations in Irvine Ca. Anyway I asked the dealer and they said that the motor did not need to be broken in. Too Late for that

The Dealership I first took the car to is were I bought it.(Koons Mazda/Toyota, Westminster Md.) Two weeks after I bought the car @ Koons they sold Mazda to expand their Toyota sales; had I known that I would have bought the car somewhere else.
I took the car to them about the engine noise over 6 times and they still could not fix it, each time they miss-diagnosed the problem. At that point they no-longer performed service work on Mazda's. I then took the car to Heritage in OwingsMills, they found the bad bearing ect...
