replacement belly (splash) pan suggestions?
last winter, while digging myself out of some deep snow I accidentally cracked my engine belly pan in a few places. i didn't realize it until the next oil change. it wasn't really too bad, but progressively got worse. i just removed it last week because it was hanging so bad.
so I know i can buy a stock plastic replacement, but it's at least $200, which is insane for a piece of plastic IMO. I used to have a Volvo 740 and there were aftermarket aluminum belly pans available to replace the plastic.
I haven't found any for my Mazda3 yet, but considering to get an aluminum pan made. I'll definitely spend $200 for something 10 times stronger that should last the life of the car.
I understand they're also called splash pans.
any thoughts or suggestions?

my mazda3 had a badly cracked underbelly that would hang low as well...and when i lowered my car it would drag and make horrible noises...ugh. i went to look for a replacement guard but the asking price was much too high from mazda. so i just bought some of the plastic zip ties, drilled some holes, and laced the ties through the holes to hold the damaged parts in place. since the ghetto rig, i havent had any problems and the splash guard stays where it is supposed to. its a reliable, very inexpensive fix.
