Winter Tires
Well....
I gave up yesterday. I decided my life was more important than 600 bucks.
Last winter I bought a set of Falcon ZE-912's and thought I could go all season with them on my 2006 Mazda 3 S hatchback. Well I can't. I live in Wisconsin and we just recently got about 12" of snow.
I made an appointment at Big Bear Tire in Oconomowoc, WI to get a set of Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires. They will cost me $137/tire and $613 installed. Once I get them installed I will post my impressions of them in this post. If anyone wants to know information about them see: http://www.dunloptires.com/catalog/winterSport3D.html
I have heard very good things about them from various sources.
My shop has a winter change over special ... so switching between tires is not that expensive. But for those people out there with 3's that want to know what the smallest wheel that you can go with on a set of dedicated snow wheels it is 205/55-16. If you want to buy winter tires and dedicated snow wheels ... you can so at: http://www.tirerack.com/snow/changeover.jsp
I get them installed this Saturday. I am so excited. I used to have a 1993 Honda Civic EX Coupe and I used to run Blizzak ws-50's on them. I miss it!
I will let everyone know my results!
