2008 auto 3 2.3 80K, p0753 shift sol A
Check engine light came on, no noticeable problems. Assumed light was for gas cap. Reset, went abt a week just fine, Engine light back on, scanned car and p0753 popped up. Replaced selenoid A, drove about 100 miles before noticed issue... first, RPM is random from 2-3 and Engine light on after heated and accel from 40-55. Cleared code, then again on highway accelerated hard from 40-55... both engine and AT pop on, car stayed in 3rd...wouldn't shift out(safe mode). Can clear code and everything is fine?. And, test drove for about 5 mins up to 55 mph, shut off for gas, start back up and BOOM from P to D AT and engine on. Shut off, wait a sec restart and just engine light on. (S0 IVE SEEN NO TRUE PATTERN). My dad is a tech(he's my source, I don't know much abt cars). Think it is the TCM, I hope it's not the Trans! BTW T fluid is fresh, all maintenance is to schedule... he makes sure I keep up with everything,
Anyone with similar issue?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this problem? Almost the exact same thing started happening to my '08 2.3L hatch with 106,000 on it. Wont shift past 3rd, CEL, AT light, Code P0753. But a lowbeam headlight stopped working at the same time, I pulled it to take a look cause it is pretty new, put it back in and it started working again, then the highbeam quit working. Started it up the next day and they both worked fine. Meanwhile Check Engine light has been on and it will sporadically stop upshifting at 3rd gear. Sounds electrical. The tranny is smooth as silk, the fluid is pink, there's nothing wrong with it

ever find a fix??
Just curious if you ever discovered the real problem. I am having the exact same issue. 2008 S 2.3 Auto. Just had the solenoid replaced. Worked fine for a couple of short drives...light came back on, shifted down to 3rd. Turned off the car and went back home and AT light never came back on. Mechanics didnt think there was anything even wrong with the transmission but went ahead and replaced the solenoid. Very frustrating! I dont even have 60,000 miles on it & have taken really good care of it. Cant seem to find any definite fixes so far on any forums. Dont want to waste hundreds of more dollars trying to find the real issue.

I ended up replacing the TCM after a lot of research. It's been about 4 months and it hasn't happened again. We never touched a solenoid or anything else, just the Transmission Control Module which cost about $800. But good luck finding one, there weren't even any in the United States when we decided to try it. It took 2 months for one to show up at the shop.

Wow, just came across this thread. Ironically enough my mazda 2.3L 2007 just passed 106k and got the p0753 Cel and the AT Light. This happened about 1000 miles after my partial transmission flush. Did the troubleshooting steps listed in the workshop manual. Resistance on the the A solenoid are within spec.
After disconnecting the battery and checking to make sure the TCM and Primary transaxle connectors pins were tight, plugged battery back in tested car no CEL or errors. Never had any issues with the transmission. The following day started the car, car jerks bucks in reverse and in drive. Left car running connected ADB tool and TunerPro software and cleared Check Engine Light. Shifted car back into gears total smooth.

Code p0753 tcm replacement
Yeah my father had the same thing on his 2010 mazda 3 2.0l in 2015 and it ended being his TCM so i replaced it and no worries after that.
Now i have the same problem on my 2010 mazda 3 sp25.
Am getting it checked over in shop but am pretty sure it's the same problem. (TCM)
This should be a free replacement item due to Mazda's having this common problem all round in Mazda 3's i see.
By the way i am a qualified service technician so i keep my cars up to scratch when it comes to services. (not a sparky)

Electronic TCM
I think it probably will be OK, as they did not change much over the years. Just be sure you get the latest version of the TCM available.
My Mazda days are over, as I made a switch to KIA because Mazda never bothered to rectify this situation with the TCM, and are still charging mega $$$ to replace a faulty component.
I'm sure Mazda doesn't even care, or give a damn, but they lost a customer who will never speak well of them again !!
