So my GF just bought a silver Mazda 3 touring model. Auto tran, Moonroof, Bose 6cd stereo & winter floormats are the extras. Her payment is about 290 for a 42 month lease. No money down except taxes and plate fees. 12k miles a year and first payment is taken care of by dealer.

What do you all think and please give deatils about ur deals.

To be honest, I not a big fan of Leases unless you drive low miles and intend on turning the car over after the lease. In your gf's situation she basically gives $12,180 (not including the taxes and fees) just to lease a car for 3.5 years, at which point she has to turn it over to them or buy it. Not to mention I believe you cannot do any mods to the car (I could be wrong). Also she may have to carry "Gap Coverage" (Covers the difference in value of the vehicle to what is owned on a lease or a loan) to cover the cost of the vehicle should it be totaled or unrecoverable due to theft.

IMHO she would have been better off buying the car. At least in 5 years she could have owned it outright.

 

Thanks for the reply...I do agree that a lease is not always the best way to go depending on how well you tend to maintain cars. The BIG reason why she went this route rather than purchasing the car through a loan is simply due to debt. Right now she is also trying to pay off a credit card and every extra dollar sent to that obviously helps her get out of it quicker. The difference between a lease and a purchase loan is usually anywhere between $50-$100 a month plus also keep in mind that you are also putting down LESS money up front for a lease than you would for a 5 year loan.

At the end of the day she definitely doesnt have the advantage of writing this car off as some people who lease may be able to do because of their line of work. If it wasnt for her credit debt I would def had advised her to get a 5 year loan which would proopbably put her at $370 a month plus a down payment around $2000.

Sounds like a good deal I just leased a I touring no moonroof or bose. 36 months 239.00 15000 miles same deal just paid dmv and sales tax .

 

She could have just went with a older mazda3, bought it, and probably be paying less a month then she is now.

 

290 for 41 months total 11890 the used one had to be less.This way it is new and no problems for 3.5 years. It may work out.

 

I got the 2010 i Touring 4 door with 5 spd auto. I'm paying 297 a month for 60 months. It would of been 287, but I opted for the extended warranty. This was with 5k on a cash for clunkers trade in. We think we got a fair deal.

 

What was the price you paid before the clunker rebate? Seems a little high what you are paying.

I hope you did not negotiate using monthly payments?

This one dealer offered me a 2010 S sport auto with moonroof/cd/bose package with all weather floor mats all for invoice at $20,319

 

I tried not to negotiate on monthly payments, but it is hard since thats all they push for, I'm not the best hardball player and this was the first time I'd bought new. Anyway, the list was 19,100 and the invoice was 18,100 (18,100 was in their computer for the car, Edmunds showed around 17,950). I ended up getting it for 500 over invoice and they paid for the registration and DMV fees. I even tried walking out for the night and that was as low as they'd go. After doing the math, it didn't seem too bad. Could be wrong though...lol.

 

depends where you live I was offered in NY and my 2010 3i touring auto was 18058 wiith remote stater I added I opted to lease for 239 monthly 3 yr 15000 miles nothing down just paid bank fee 595,dmv sales tax . Traded old in so out of pocket just 438.00 Mazda paid 1st month. I do not normally lease but it was a good deal for me right now .

 

I just picked up my 2010 touring today. No moonroof or 6-cd, but everything else. Went the cash for clunkers route (Mazda throws in another $500 and calls the $5000 total a down payment). I used an auto broker as well. Best experience I've ever had, I never had to set foot inside a dealership. Price the broker got was 18700. After taxes that makes for a payment of $281 per month for 60 months.

To the 13100 Add 1473 for taxes and a $200 fee for the broker (which is still considerably less than the $500 dealer handling fee, and $27 for a filing fee, putting me out the door for 15247. Still a great deal though, and no dealer-induced headaches lol

 

where do youlive never heard of a dealer handling fee or filing fee taxes are always assumed after cost. I got the new copper red how about you?
