2010 Mazda3 gets stuck in 3rd or 4th after a hard downshift
Hello!
Has anyone ever had a Mazda 3 that would get stuck in gear, where you can fix it by just switching into manual mode and then back into auto?
I have been scouring the web looking for an answer, and I haven't found anyone anywhere that has described an issue exactly like the one I am facing.
My 2010 Mazda 3i 2.0 automatic has no check engine light or AT light, but it has a strange problem where sometimes when I accelerate quickly, the transmission will 'get stuck' in a lower gear and won't shift back up to 5th.
It will get stuck in both 3rd and 4th gear; The strange thing is, when it does this I can fix it by putting it in manual shift mode and then back into automatic mode; then it will shift properly.
It doesn't usually ever get stuck in gear like this if I try to drive really conservatively.
I went ahead and changed my transmission fluid & filter, as well as the transmission speed sensor, since I could find one for only $10 or so. It seems like a sensor issue, but it seems like any time one of these sensors goes bad there is usually a check engine light or someting on; at this point I am ironically wishing I had a check engine light on so I could try to figure out what is going on.
Has anyone ever seen something like this before?

Same issue
My daughter's car is doing the same thing. It wouldn't come out even in Manual. We put Sea Foam transmission treatment in it and drove it manually for about 10 minutes before it went back in 3rd and stuck. After letting it sit and cool for almost 2 hours, we got back in it, drove it manual and so far, no issues. Only happens to her when it gets hot.
